Also weird since chatgpt is more than willing to do it

Yeah it feels like some kind of shibboleth to know that the way to get the good jobs is not through indeed but through direct contact or similar. On the other hand if everyone used that tactic I guess it wouldn’t be as effective or as good

I can only imagine how much worse it’ll get once the regulation they’re working on comes into place. A cartel of Microsoft and Google slowly watering down their public models while keeping the powerful ones to themselves or business partner

I honestly think front end is kind of over or has a shelf life of maybe a few more years. Not sure how to go about planning my career according to this belief

Great documentary. I remember seeing it years ago though so it must have been published elsewhere and seen by many more people becuase I doubt that “300 views” count is right

I would be terrified of building on top of openai’s api. At any moment they can just cut off access or mark a model legacy (or change its behaviour but keep the same name) and all my work is bust.

There probably are all sorts of weird “you may not use this computer to commit terrorist acts” agreements you implicitly or explicitly agree on when buying a computer

Im fine with the stable diffusion license. It’s just there to cover their ass from lawsuits. Releasing the weights is enough to be good guys in my book.

I understand the reasoning but it’s weird that while we’ve expeced continual progress in flops every year or so, this will now put basically a mandatory upper limit (forever?) on how powerful computers can be (in these countries)

Coding is exhausting and if a computer can do it I’m fine with that. Coding I think (or what got me into it) is about getting amazing machines to work not building bloatware for a pay check. If AI can do the boring fine details and we get t

They’re also already giving out millions of dollars in man hours in releasing and maintaining open source software, as well as lots of other much less used ML models. So they have an existing open source strategy and it makes sense to doubl

They obviously do statistical analysis of user data still which I’d argue is in the “AI on user data” bucket. So no I don’t think that applies

I don’t think this is a possible approach. It would basically mean needing to feed in so much noise that a human wouldn’t be able discern reality from fiction given no priors. Modern ML is too smart

We also already have laws against evil behaviour, no need to introduce AI specific regulation. People can poison the water supply, or make bio weapons already. Yet people don’t because there’s laws and the same will stop people from using A
