The theoretical payoff of sticky bonuses is one minus twice the house edge [1]. The house edge of slot machines varies between 5-15%, so with optimal play you should be able to get out $.70 to $.90 per sticky bonus $1. By cashing out earlie

Reading about suspensions reminds me of the inerter (J-damper) [1] used in F1 racing. It was discovered by analogy with electrical circuits; it was the missing mechanical part corresponding to a capacitor. [1] http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/

The fun part of parallel programming is getting things running on your GPU, parallelizing the algorithm, then tuning and optimizing the code. This is easier, faster, and more pleasant in CUDA with it's mature tools and ecosystem. That's why

Nice looking site! I'm a professional programmer just getting started with indie game development (it's so much fun!). The biggest thing I want out of a game hosting site apart from actual sales is insight into the potential players/custom

Very nice! I worked through all the levels you have and everything worked great, it was a lot of fun. Some notes: I "cheated" and used cherry-pick before it was introduced, not sure if that should or should not be allowed. Sometimes I was

This thread and patch are silly, but running out of entropy can be a real performance problem sometimes. I've seen it on embedded Linux systems that I've set up to be headless servers. After turning off lots of device drivers, I noticed t

Actually some subjects on YouTube do have high-brow discussion, they're just not the millions-of-views kinds of subjects. I did a bunch of videos on quantitative finance, the discussions on those often involve talking about calculus, quest

At my college (Whitman College) you can get a degree in Mathematics-Physics. That is the "combined major". It is about as difficult as either a degree in mathematics or a degree in physics, the requirements are a mix of both. The alternat

The article doesn't suggest only using 48kHz for recording and mixing. I don't think the author would disagree that recording triangles is difficult. He would argue that once you've decided what final audible frequencies you want to prese

It's not your job to decide if you are competent enough to be an asset to the team, it is the company's job. If you want the internship, apply. Let them do the work of figuring out if they want you.
