I can only join Teams meetings (as a "Guest") if I'm signed out. If I'm logged in to my Microsoft account, I cannot join calls and get some weird error. Nobody at Microsoft can resolve this error. It's been two ye

There is no universe where Teams can be described as "good enough". It is without question the worst piece of software I have ever used.

>Concurrency is not "single core parallelism" Of course it is. Concurrency gives the impression to the user that parallel processing is being done, even when it's not. That's why my parents old 386 could render a mo

But concurrency is just "single core parallelism" anyways, so this isn't really germane to the discussion. JS has neither.

I'd be interested in reading a writeup on this subject; I've always enjoyed running linux without a DE but the awful text rendering makes it a sub-par experience. I have one of the lcdfans modded thinkpads running Fedora and awes

Java is only slow to start the VM. If your process is long-lived it's exceedingly quick because you only pay the startup penalty once. "GC pauses" are greatly exaggerated in terms of impact and frankly for the vast majority

It's really not as weird or as esoteric as the memes would lead you to believe. (Common) Lisp is multi paradigm so you can write code that looks very much like "C with the parenthesis in the wrong spot" and it'll work ju

Open-pit mining produces dust, and in this case that dust would be heavily contaminated, and could then end up being blown away to contaminate some new site, making the problem worse.

I bought an ASUS monitor with adaptive refresh rate sync (gsync/freesync) and it died in less than 3 months. ASUS refused to replace it. Their products are scams; avoid ASUS at all costs.

The pfsense people are, frankly, fucking clowns. They bought the domain opnsense.com and used it to badmouth the opnsense project[0]. Do not give pfsense time, attention, or money. [0] https://opnsense.org/opnsense-com
