There is also devshell[1] which allows you to configure specific commands for your `env` and sits inside your flake. [1]: https://github.com/numtide/devshell

Here is one idea: Have a look at some of the problems that are surfacing in the tech community or new products that are being launched. Examples: Twitter, all the stable diffusion front-ends, etc., Find a stack that lies at the intersection

I think I can make this statement with a good degree of certainty: Building the best version of twitter right now will have infinitely more impact on the world than Tesla or SpaceX. The social/political/legal/engineering prob

If you are bleeding a billion a year, you are not going to survive without drastic changes to culture, mission and focus. Making the engineering team nimble, hyper-focused and startup like is definitely a good solution. Pushing for revenue

The game requires signup, so I haven't played it yet. Love the credits page and the "architect's" attempts at promotion on reddit.

I'm in my early 40s, love programming, still very productive. The only trouble with being older is that you can see through the hype as new frameworks and libraries keep chasing their tails. If you aren't as hyped about those thin

I was having similar issues a couple of years back. I'm now using 2 trackballs - Expert Mouse and Vertical trackball to distribute the movement. The pain hasn't come back and I enjoy having dual mice with some extra buttons. I tri

One person's immaturity is another persons humor. Not sure about the author, but programming is most often a lonely exercise with alternating bouts of creativity and tedium. Comments like these bring out the humanity. I love these comm

I've limited my content consumption to hacker news, selected followers on twitter and I've blocked all unnecessary twitter appendages (trending, who to follow etc) with stylus. Quite long-term-ish work, lots of family time, art an

I'm in the process of setting this up with multiple SD cards as locker[1]. I got SD card storage with credit card like form-factor so that it fits in my wallet. The tricky thing is to figure out how to keep the instructions unencrypted

This is great. Reminds me of QuickSilver[1]. I'm evaluating HomeRow[2] for a VIM driving the Mac OS, will try this as well. I love how: a. accessibility features are making the OS more accessible for everyone through automation b. goo

I use emacs with evil and been using it for over a decade now. However, I use VSCode for web development and Rider for game development as the integrations are superior with vim extensions for those IDEs. What you are looking for is a set o

SEO for Nix is kinda hard unless they decide to change the name. I've resorted to searching github with `extension:nix`, the forum and the manual directly.

Fantastic. This year I managed to get my development environment(s) with declarative, shared configurations almost completely managed by nix. This is the first success for me after trying to do this with multiple tools over the past decade.

Glad to see Nausicaä mentioned. While I find it really hard to rate Miyazaki movies (usually the most recent rewatch becomes my favorite), the deep echoing philosophy of Nausicaä and Princess Mononoke is definitely underrated. I love how on

What has helped me with the consolidation is the ubiquity of my preferred key bindings. I use vim keys with spacemacs like bindings. On emacs, doom-emacs[1] gives me the bindings. On VSCode, VSpaceCode[2], on Jetbrains Rider, Intellimacs[3]

This probably more of a personal bias/preference than a rational decision. I prefer emacs as my editor and use VSCode only for its stellar Typescript integration. When I started game dev back in 2020, I tried rider and really liked it
