No AMD and no matte screen is a showstopper for me on the framework. Especially the processor - AMD thermals are in another class. It makes no sense to buy Intel laptops right now.

Have you ever tried working outdoors on a glossy screen? You will wish very fast it was matte.

I can sort of see what you’re saying, but the cognitive management of what you describe sounds like a huge pain. I use PaperWM and it’s awesome. It just gets out of my way and let’s me manage tons of apps and windows with ease and 0 manual

I'll be happy when I can finally delete my Windows partition, which is used exclusively to play games. I've already moved to Linux for a lot of stuff, because frankly, it just plays games better than Windows 10/11. For exampl

As someone on FODMAP, what works for me is to do breakfast/lunch meal replacement with low FODMAP shakes (like Huel), then get a few FODMAP cookbooks and make dinners out of that. Works great and is fairly painless - lots of delicious

It sounds to me a lot like you've prioritized your professional life over everything else - no wonder you're feeling empty. You need to focus on you, make social connections, join social groups, get out there and make your life mo

My relative is pretty much the number one reader in his year (reading at near adult level when he was 10, reading 2 million words in a year when he was older...), and it was completely because of his obsession with Minecraft. It got him dev

Interesting, was that in the EU? I recently had a friend go through the process in the bay area, he didn't get anything harder than easy/medium. I thought that Google, at least, was trending to making their algo portion easier as

I agree with you, although you can get near/past FAANG level TC by contracting/freelancing. Even just being a Java dev, you can make around 650+ a day which is about 150k/year. Plus you can expense almost anything IT related.

It definitely doesn't take 500 leetcode problems. If you have a solid grasp of algorithms, you can probably get by by grinding ~30 medium problems. If you're needing to do that many leetcode then you're basically solving on p

For me, nix the language itself is not that bad. It's all the magic happening in nixpkgs and the tight coupling there with the user interface (configuration.nix, shell.nix, etc.). In NixOS/nix, you are essentially extending the ni

It's really hard to self medicate when you're head is in the wrong place. It's much easier to abuse in moments of weakness. Like drinking when depressed, etc., which can just become a downward spiral. I agree with the origina

Self medicating is one of the best ways to become addicted. I think drugs can be useful, but it's also an easy way to escape from your issues, or can make them worse. It depends a lot on the individual and their state of mind.
