Quite impressive how many AI companies Daniel Gross has had a hand in lately. Carmack, this, lots of other promising companies. I expect him to be quite a big player once some of these pays off in 10 years or so.

Lots of anti AI narrative in the news lately. Not to be cynical but I'd hate to suspect it partially has to do with it threatening their business model.

I can't be the only one suspicious that there seems to be a coordinated set of articles (guardian and NYT) roughly at the same time pushing the same narrative (conveniently about something threatening their business). Gives me "th

Looks great! I really have to supress my "AI thumbnails means low quality AI slop" sensors though because I've heard of this site before and know it's high quality.

The article seems to suggest that this is a bad thing. But what's the alternative? That it just gets soaked up by the bank or the state or whatever happens when there's no will? Better it go to a person even semi by mistake like i

I'm curious what the difference between this and an "automated scientist" like sama/openai says they want to build would be. This is what I imagine when they mention that goal.

These announcements are kind of underwhelming but google is definitely going full force against openai now. Who knows how the playing field will look in another 2 years if they keep using their full weight like this

Sora is also movement limited to a certain range if you look at the clips closely. Probably something like filtering by some function of optical flow in both cases.

Yet another release right before google releases something. This time right before Google IO. Third time they've done this by my count.

Making moves like these in an obvious attempt at pulling up the ladder behind them, while saying that "startup culture" is still important in ML. As usual don't believe anything sama is saying.

Kind of scary if computer manufacturers start engaging in the same practices as google has started doing and SaaS companies regularly do i.e. increase prices while keeping the product largely the same (because the moat is so massive and sto

People like to say AI is moving blazingly fast these days but this has been like a year in the waiting que. Guessing sora will take equally long if not way longer before the general audience gets to touch it.

Interestingly they only say you have to disclose it if it's a singer missing a note. Seems like it's fair game to fix a note that was off key in real life and not disclose that.
