I've only tried Nix once or twice, and I'm left wondering: why don't they use a scripting language? Is part of the appeal that the Nix language is a functional language?

I wonder if perhaps this is also a generational thing. Programmers from before syntax highlighting became popular would be less likely to prefer it, no? I’m not even sure if programmers from current/recent generations ever prefer not

Is it just me or is monospace text unpleasant to read? Obviously that’s not the case when I’m writing code, so maybe I’m not used to reading normal prose in mono typeface?
