This is all extremely interesting. Lanes have been switching to Brunswick all-in-one string pinsetter/scoring systems due to, in large part, operational cost and lack of options. (Many bowling alleys still rock A-2s or GSX pinsetters

This is the paranoia talking, but given that Claude is going to be doing its own thing, I would put this box in its own VLAN or behind deny-all firewall rules to protect against network escapes.

If you needed a cheap, light laptop at the time, this was your only option. The MacBook Air came out two years later.

Not directly related to the article, but I've got to give it up to Tesla for continuing to eek out every last ounce of performance from the Atoms they used for 2018-2021 Model 3 car computers. They still push updates to the UI for thes

Consumer electronics, yes. For defense, though, American companies very much still make electronics.

Wow, this one really highlights the collapse. Basically no new questions have been asked this year while unanswered questions climbed unabated.

ML was always marketed separately as AI/ML, with AI being things like CNNs/RNNs/BERTs and such. Always felt like a distinction without a difference.

With all due respect, this is a bit disingenuous coming from you. GitHub's exponential growth in number of commits and PRs answers your question. Before AI, if you wanted to contribute to OSS, you had to have _some_ idea of what the co

Some people never really liked writing code. They liked the result and the paycheck much more. Those folks are having the time of their lives now. Well, until the fall happens and software development is assmebly-lined.

Much better name for this well-designed product. I do wish they made it easier to pull in emails. For the one notebook I needed to make, I had to use gyb and mhonarc to retrieve the emails (from GMail), convert them to text and split them i

Man, I flippin loved the OnePlus One. Such a bold device. I still miss that sandstone back all these years later. It made the phone a breeze to hold.

I don't think Zitron's argument is that AI is useless so much as that AI in it's current form is unsustainable and maligned with what's good for society long-term (which I agree with).

Zoom ran on OCI some time ago; not sure if they still do. (They got a shitload of free credits iirc) Many companies use OCI for their Oracle DBs, as I believe they get some sort of discount when run this way.

I love churning out crazy Bash scripts, though. The first scripts I wrote sucked, as it always goes with a new language, but Bash is an awesome swiss army knife now that I know how to really push it. It sucks that doing this by hand now is

Honestly, if Flock forces people to enforce speed limits and follow the rules of the road, its expansion can't come fast enough. I realize how contrarian of a view this is to the mainstream, but car accidents are a leading cause of dea

Maybe the increasingly common trend of companies making it impossible to contact human beings when help is needed has something to do with that.

AI shouldn't write tests. At least not all of them. Definitely not e2e's. The tests should be guardrails to constrain agents. This way, the author of code matters less.
