Makes sense to me. Most of the companies that spend $$$$ with them can't use public registries for production/production-adjacent workloads due to regulations and, secondarily a desire to mitigate supply chain risk. Artifactory is

It's also a crowded and super mature space space between JFrog (Artifactory) and Sonatype (Nexus). They already support private PyPI repositories and are super locked in at pretty much every enterprise-level company out there.

Open-source models will never be _truly_ competitive as long as obtaining quality datasets and training on them remains prohibitively expensive. Plus, most users don't want to host their own models. Most users don't care that Open

You can't guarantee that an LLM will yield the same answer twice, given the same input, by design. You can with compilers. That's the point being made here.

This reads like old agile blog posts from six years ago (which makes sense, seeing as how the organizational problems then are the same as the organizational problems now). It doesn't feel like AI wrote it to me.

They sound incredible (with Apple products), feel super premium, excel at noise cancelling and have really good mics. I've tried Bose and Sony; in fact, I have two pairs of QC Ultras sitting in their boxes waiting to be sold. Neither s

Reading article after article and anecdote after anecdote proclaiming writing code by hand "artisinal" and "outdated" wears on you though.

There's an unofficial Claude Code plugin for Vim. It only does plan mode afaik. I haven't used it, but I have considered it. That said, I've been using Vim as my editor for the last ten years. The last few companies I worked

> My million+ open source LOC were always intended as a gift to the world. Says yet another person who's hilariously rich, financially invested in the success of AI and isn't materially affected by AI displacing them.

iOS 7 really changed the game on the iOS aesthetic. We probably would've had more refined skeuomorphism had that re-design not been as aggressive as it was.

I last used Bitbucket in 2021-ish. It was fine for what it was, especially on-premise, but it's a very hard sell in a world where GitLab and webhooks exist and even harder now that Gitea is finally picking up steam.

Glad you mentioned Google Sheets. I moved my personal task tracking from Trello to Notion to Sheets. Sheets has been the best for me. Infinite customizability, fast, lean.

HN cargo-cults heavily for sure. That's more of a reflection of SV culture than something unique to HN. 2016-2018 was Docker and Kubernetes. 2020 was COVID. 2021-2022 was WFH good, RTO bad...and lots of Web3 and crypto stuff. 2023 was

I'd be fine with treating this like snippets from Wikipedia with citations back to the article. This way, people can manually verify the sources if they so choose.

I hate how easy AI has made outsourcing thinking. You can literally type fragments of a thought into $CHAT_ASSISTANT and get a super polished response back that gets you 99% of the way there. It's almost like we, collectively, looked a

There are lots of alternative container image registries: quay, harbor, docker's open sourced one, the cloud providers, github, etc. Or do you mean a replacement for docker hub?
