A deep-linked article had a good quote about the complexity of cut-over transition like this: "It is the business equivalent of taking out the brain of a human being, while they are laying on the table and you're having a conversation with

Interesting. Is parse time generally a function of code length, or overall complexity/CPU time?

Don't most apps reference jQuery from a CDN source (like Google)? In those cases jQuery is probably served from the browser cache. And if "those cases" are "most cases", is having a smaller version of a similar library particularly valuable

I think the only one of these that's innovative enough to be of interest to nonusers of C# + VS is the DataTips. It's basically a small watch window you can pin anywhere in the code, almost like a sticky note. You can pin any number of them

Why the downvotes? It's the most insightful comment in the world, but it's hardly worthy of scorn. And it provoked a meaningful reply (thanks Ecio78)

It is a bit herky-jerky on most of the mobile devices I've tried it on. I've written an app that is fully client-side rendered and plan on compiling it down to native using phonegap. I'm optimistic that this will help a bit (I don't have an

It's incredible how relatively sparse the application itself is. No essays, no short answers, no letters of recommendation. No prose of any kind. Simply a resume, references, an academic transcript, and a small list of "additional skills".

Slightly off-topic, but an important correction: Pete Rose actually bet on his team to win , not against his team. It makes your point even stronger - he didn't have a conflict of interest.

Notice too the extremely slow push-in on the camera when Colbert gets sincere. There's a bit of cinematic wizardry at play to make it extra poignant. It emphasizes that Colbert was truly breaking character - the entire show broke character

The Armorize screencast embedded in the article is really wonderful. It's concise, full of information, and clear enough to duplicate the steps on your own. A nice 5-minute detective story.

Did you compile a static list of recommended TVs in different sizes, and just display relevant ones (it looks like it from the markup) or are you actually searching Amazon and pulling back relevant products? (or something in between)

I would pay for an OFFLINE restore-only backup. Not really sure that even makes sense, but if I'm worried about Google losing my data, I'm not sure I'm going to feel better by just chaining together additional 3rd parties to backup my data.

It's funny - that series of videos is exactly the sort of video that would make someone a YouTube star today. In the same way a teenage girl gains a following after making videos of how to apply makeup, I could easily see Feynman becoming a

It definitely came across as a joke. The interview was really, really funny (on an otherwise average wwdtm episode). If you listen to the show, you'll know how tongue-in-cheek it is. Both Biz and Mark came across as good people, just wildly

As a group of software developers, I suspect there won't be much sympathy found here. You shouldn't price at cost+, but rather at value+. Many of us work on SaaS solutions, which have little to no marginal cost, yet we charge for the servic
