Just think of it: You start your lib, it becomes fairly popular; you think wow this deserves its own domain. Now it's more like a chore than a pet project, plus no one donates to your awesome lib - yes you believe in OSS, but BigBuckCo

There is this tool: sphinx. Helps you making documentation + website. Can read you code and document it with your docstrings. Generates some okish documentation and is kind of boilerplate if you create a library. There do all these websites

It's difficult because of the boilerplate. Compare traefik with caddy-docker-proxy. Same feature set but only 30% of the code

In fact it uses Kubernetes YAML for this. It can use docker-compose if you symlink the podman socket to the docker socket (that's what docker-compose expects where the container socket is); you can use podman-compose too.

True. It's more like a step before k8s. Same pod concept but no HA. More like docker-compose or swarm

Why should they keep so much data that just raises their storage bills?

Yes but that's a second thought. First it has to be more $-cheaper and then you have to cradle the thought that their time is valuable too. But that has to be their idea, if it's not, than you are only after their money

It has to be cheaper than hosting it myself. "A VPS costs you $5. My service is $2. True you can host it with your other applications on the VPS you already own. Set up a reverse proxy and update it every now and then - or sign up and

I remember when you just git pushed to heroku and your stuff magically was a working deploy. Later there was docker and after setting up your CI/CD you had almost the same heroku experience with half of the costs. As deployment became

You could use DHCP for this. It can map your Servernames (their hostnames) to a local domain. eg. devicename.mackrevinack.homstead. But it can also map to just the hostname.
