Well, the hack didn't involve an inter-blockchain transfer. It was internal transfers carried out at the same time on ETH, Polygon and BSC networks, so each of them would require a separate hardfork to repair this.

Would have loved to see the discussion whether this amount of money would justify a hardfork to revert the theft.

I assume the tech behind this is brittle in that Proof of Research "miners" are assumed to be trusted in that they don't just lie to the BOINC servers about what work they actually performed.

"computation is almost free" actually triggered me. that's the java argument from 20 years ago, now we have go and rust. it implies electron is actually a sane approach to ui development. the author is very vague about why ex

Seriously the coolest tool to tinker with in my youth. Gave you so much control. It felt like magic to halt execution of a DOS program to inspect exactly what it's doing instruction by instruction, patching code or injecting chunks of

The problem with automating 'every day stuff' is that processes aren't formalized in most cases. So there isn't an interface to implement against. There are no clear or reliable sources of data. Management needs to under

Striving for concise syntax for mathematical operations is a noble intention, but it's hardly a good idea achieve that by shoehorning changes into an existing language. A language framework designed for extensibility has to be the basi

Yes it is, but you can prune the decision space significantly by discarding bogus choices, or more concretely by modelling higher level goals and then compiling them into actual moves.

Some IDM tunes gave me shivers in the past, like Bola or Squarepusher. And most noticably certain letter styles. Berlin graffiti from the late 90s, early 00s. DRM/BAD crews.

So it could be an automated test to check if the release is signed as well instead of a checklist item. Having long checklists for comparatively simple tasks really hurts productivity, plus they're often used as an excuse to put automa

I don't care so much about writing idiomatic code anymore. For example I tend to write python like javascript. Mostly only use lists and dicts (JSON basically), while ditching the whole OOP/class concepts for the most part. What I

If you're using clang, I can recommend starting with libFuzzer. It's pretty straightforward to use - basically add one C file with a function definition, which gets called by the fuzzer engine with the test data. Add a bunch of co

That sounds a bit reductionist, as if 'heavy use of monadic interfaces' would be kind of a silver bullet. There's a lot of concepts to internalize before being able to build large scale systems using categorical abstractions:

It can still makes sense to translate the rules into a parseable format instead of hard-coding them, to allow for code generation (or dynamic evaluation) and programmatic analysis of the rules.
