I like them too, the problem is when you want to use (paste) some code that is not yours - you need to re-indent it.

What I really want is a search engine for articles I've seen on HN. All current solutions ("site:", Google CSE, searchyc.com) are just indexing the titles of the stories and the comments, but not the actual text of the article.

Blippy seems to be all about conspicuous consumption. I can see how it has a chance to be very profitable, I just don't think the world needs any more of this.

Google can take the approximation of the social graph that they have (in Gmail & Orkut) and improve search results based on that. I doubt they haven't at least tried to estimate how much does this help.

Tornado web server. It's extremely good code solving hard problems with a great attention to detail and in a minimal way. Highly recommended.

I think drinking 2-3 liters of water per day (~100 ounces?) is seen as beneficial for the health. People usually don't drink that much because they don't feel thirsty, but they would like to. I don't live in the US so I don't know what I'm

If you aren't going to query on a property, make sure to store it as a TextProperty and not a StringProperty. Don't do this, use StringProperty(indexed=False) - works with the other property types as well.

They are not half finished databases (ok, some of them are), they are just databases that operate under a different set of constraints and optimize accordingly.

Interesting. How many words is your corpus? Right now I'm playing with a way to tokenize text in an unsupervised, language-independent manner - my current line of thought is "try to predict the next letter from n-grams, if the model has no

Yes, if you refer to the original concept by Google (the element corresponding to your page from the eigenvector on the link matrix of the web). The understanding of page rank as it has been dumbed down by bad SEOs is mostly irrelevant. A s

So you're asking for OOP, no generic programming / templates? I know template metaprogramming magic becomes madness real fast :-) I tend not to ask direct language questions anymore, everything is related to the code written on the intervie
