Do you mean other hardware platforms upon which MicroPython runs, or other software platforms that target the micro:bit? If the former, work is in progress on that front (I am the maintainer of Mu).

Yay... great to see MicroPython on the micro:bit getting some love. In case you're interested, here are the docs for MicroPython on the board -- you can do a remarkable amount on such a small device: https://microbit-micropy

Python 3 is the default teaching language for the RaspberryPi. The BBC micro:bit runs MicroPython - a reimplementation of Python 3 for microcontrollers. Teachers and kids are already ahead of the game. When today's kids graduate they&#

Great stuff and many thanks for responding! Hah... it wasn't me talking at Muc2016. I wonder who it was? I'd love to know who... :-) FWIW, here's my EuroPython keynote, including singing micro:bits: https://www.you

Your script can be up to 8k in length. You have 16k RAM to play with. Obviously, this is a very constrained device and just getting a full re-implementation of Python 3 (sans standard library) is testament to Damien George's engineerin

Hi, It was probably me you saw keynoting - perhaps at this year's EuroPython? I'm one of the volunteers behind the MicroPython related work for the micro:bit. Sorry you thought I was nationalistic. That's completely the opp

Thanks for the positive vibes. As someone directly involved with the project I can assure you we worked very hard to make it boring, insipid and a waste of time. We see this every time we put the device in the hands of children who instantl

Damien George, the creator of MicroPython, is an extraordinarily talented individual. He's also extraordinarily generous having volunteered a substantial block of time and effort to get MicroPython running on the upcoming BBC micro:bit

The RPi has a different aim (to provide a full computer), whereas the micro:bit is to facilitate first steps with minimum effort. By using Python a child gets a sense of progression from one device to the next. I can confidently say that a

Yes, you'll get all the digital assets needed to be able to re-create the hardware yourself as well as access to the software. Obviously, we'll be documenting the MicroPython implementation. Other partners will do their own thing.

The BBC and partners are working together to organise how the legacy will function. This could include a second drop next year. Others are correct, the device will be available for the general public to buy. Given the eventual openness of t
