I know the basic principles of extreme programming. But I ignored it (like most hotheaded fresh young devs are wont to do) till I rediscovered it some time earlier this year. Do you have a go to book that discusses these practices? Already

I use cygwin on a daily basis and the only question I have is, apart from a smaller disk space footprint, which is becoming increasingly relevant, how much more lightweight does one need cygwin to be? This obviously does not apply to the tr

I'm solving the most obvious issues that docker was meant to solve. I'm currently working alone in a company that's starting up and yesterday I needed to spin up a server and create a rest api service to integrate with a telc

Like many others here, I agree on the screen size issue. I'm actually at a bit of a loss as to what phone to use next. I want something that's future proof for several versions of Android, runs smoothly, runs vanilla android by de

Absolutely. The only "clean" practice I advocate is test driven development. The day you want to refactor your code to avoid copy paste hell, you'll be thankful you have all those tests in place

A fully tested cms. Doesn't have to be a web interface based thing. Can even be command line based. Teaches crud, tests, objects if necessary and again, tests. The requirements are as simple as they get, but it touches every necessary

So I booted and put up my servers just for the heck of it since there's nothing I could care about being hacked in it. I was anyways going to wipe the servers and start from scratch. Discovered quite a fun log today. Basically several

There are better ways as given in Robert C Martin's excellent book, Clean Code. He constantly refers to code taken from the Fitnesse repo and shows how the code looked before and after refactoring and testing. I do agree with the senti

Good point. Just another way of looking at it though. Looking back in life from a perspective of 'hey things are actually pretty great in my life' is good for the mind. It actually gives you reason to look forward to the moment. T

How does this work for people living say in Sri Lanka (me)? What do I do with the shipping costs that would usually be astronomical? Or is this not feasible for someone living here? Or am I just not getting something? Thanks :). Also, kudos

This is basically something forked off Telescope right? I'm just curious. Since you are using Meteor, what's it like using Meteor in production. Where have the scaling issues been?
