Surprised no one mentioned file.io. They've been around for a while with the exact same use case + an API.

Off topic. Was browsing on mobile Firefox. I've revoked permissions to access the camera. This site asked for permissions to access it. Not entirely sure why but it might be useful for others to know

Huge props to the DO team. Been a happy user of theirs for years and have always received good service (obviously not the tale for everyone). Lately I've been enjoying their slow but steady move into becoming a stronger offering by giv

Not sure when it came about, but when I first evaluated Concourse, not being able to trigger jobs manually was a primary blocker. Glad this showed up on HN again, because they've added it in at some point. My favourite thing about Conc

It's a matter of personal taste. The only cautionary advice to writers who employ this style would be to tell them that not all exaggerations are equal. Sitting behind the desk when the email came in is a harmless exaggeration. It does

From the perspective of basecamp/37 signals, they've made it a point to do things which most people say "wouldn't work". And they do it and prove that it is possible. A lot of objections one might have to their choi

This was a shocker to read. I never really thought of the CEO of RescueTime, but the product that was made truly fit into the mold of "changing lives". I took my habits of random social media visits from 3 hours a day (stuff accum

Curious why they felt the need to do this at all in this way. Their goal is to maximise profits. How does making people super angry about your service serve that purpose? And they had to know. They had to know the numbers of conversions aft

Life stability. Happiness. In that order. The balance between these two is something I need to maintain in order for me to say whether or not it's time to switch the job. Happiness is a lot of things. This is a personal compass. For me

I recently polished a little and released a chrome extension to auto skip YouTube ads after they've played enough to ensure the content creator gets paid. Pretty darn happy with it. https://chrome.google.com/webstore&#x

Thanks for the comment here. I spent some time thinking about this topic. I've done a write up here if you are interested - http://blog.spartakode.com/an-ad-skipper-for-youtube-that-pa... The argument can be summarized
