LSST/Vera is probably the project most impacted by these satellites. Per my contacts, smaller scopes like LBT/Keck/MMT aren't as drastically affected yet. But if we start approaching 100k+ satellites, even they will be h

In a recent interview on the H3 Podcast Andrew, the man behind AGNB, said (paraphrasing) that the crazy people find the camera. Something attracts them to it.

I'm sure you don't have to look too far to find someone who believes all software should be free (and open source).

Iteration speed is momentum. Waiting multiple minutes for code to compile or an environment to boot up kills the momentum, and it takes time to recollect the 7 +/- 2 things I was holding in my brain.

The calories we tend to think of aren't the same as the calories that we think we know. In regards to energy intake and eating food, a calorie is actually a kilocalorie. So your 10,000 calories to ride a kilometer is actually 10 kcal.

You do , which is why it ends up being easier to attack kings in the past. Because you can't change the past, only create new timelines, attacking a king from any previous board state means that the attacking piece must be captured.

I am on the older end of Gen Z and have noticed the opposite. Snap was cool from 2014 until 2019 but now Insta has a slight edge. I still use both but it varies by whom I'm talking to: some friends I talk to on Snap and some I do on In

Instagram didn't "win out" against Facebook. They fulfill two different roles with a few duplicated features.

I might generally agree, but there are some very cool applications of this feature. The rhythm game Rhythm Doctor moves the window in sync with the music. [1] Surprisingly it even worked on i3wm via Wine. I would be sad if similar things co

I think it's heavily dependent on the company and the employee and that blanket statements about it oversimplify the issue. Full-remote companies like GitLab seem to have an effective remote-work culture, while others seem to be strugg

LSD is not associated with major organized crime groups like cartels. It tends to be manufactured domestically in the Pacific Northwest and in semi-rural locations across the US.

You absolutely can drop those frames. Exoplanetary transits are generally in the range of 1 to 4 hours, and hundreds of exposures may be taken in that time. In my undergraduate I studied astronomy and some of my classmates did an exoplanet

Exposures are generally taken frequently enough that any that would be problematic for data can simply be dropped. The satellites aren't permanently positioned in the sky. Geostationary satellites permanently lose any data behind them
