Why do you think people stop creating new posts just because SO collapsed? People on GitHub issues and Reddit answer programming questions everyday. SO was dying even before ChatGPT was released. LLMs just accelerated that process.

> All memory must be statically allocated at startup. But why? If you do that you are just taking memory away from other processes. Is there any significant speed improvement over just dynamic allocation?

Funny how so many people in this comment section are saying Rob Pike is just feeling insecure about AI. Rob Pike created UTF-8, Go, Plan-9 etc. On the other hand I am trying hard to remember anything famous created by any LLM. Any famous te

I can imagine AI being just as useless in 100 years at creating real value that their parent companies have to resort to circular deals to pump up their stock.

Because not many people prioritize syntax design like GvR. Even now if someone releases a new programming language most people will ask what features it has, how fast it is, how fast is the package manager etc. Because these questions are s

I remember my first encounter with Matlab. Some YouTuber was building a toy rocket and he was simulating it in Matlab (Simulink). He just put in the weight of the rocket and it gave him the trajectory, apogee, flight time etc. It was like m

I have noticed LLMs tend to generate very verbose code. What an average human might do in 10 LoC, LLMs will stretch that to 50-60 lines. Sometimes with comments on every line. That can make it hard to see those bugs.

I wonder if it is another bug , like unwrap, in their rewritten code. Also, I don't think their every service got affected. I am using their proxy and pages service and both are still up.

Yeah, that is what I meant. It looks like Github's strategy is to push all the initial data they need to cache, to optimize subsequent requests.

I guess Github uses a lot of cache vs Codeberg.

Sure, it depends on your internet connection. But for Codeberg I see a blank page for 3-4 seconds until it shows something. On a big repo like Zig the delay is even worse. On Github any page loads gradually and you don't see a blank pa

So who is complaining that Zig leaving GH is somehow a problem? I just don't like how they have to put out false claims like there are big problems with GH CI and Sponsors. Zig is leaving GH for another provider. They did not make a be

Just because you think something is shit does not mean it becomes gospel for the rest of us. Millions of other people are fine with GitHub, respect their choice.

So tell us where is the better free macOS CI provider? I would love to switch to them. That is what I meant by the BEST FREE CI provider. It is not the best if you have money for something better.

So much vague outrage over nothing. That CI system created by so called monkeys is the one of the best free CI service in the world. Not everyone has the millions of dollars like Zig Foundation to create their own CI servers. After that the

You don't need two phones to use ADB with Termux. Just put the ADB settings app on a split screen and it will work just fine. I used it several months ago.

Why are you pretending like Planetscale is the only database provider? There are a large number of db/web providers (even free ones like GCP, Neon, Supabase etc) between using Planetscale and hosting your own server.

So? Maybe don't offer a free tier if you can't sustain it? And many other providers (like Neon, Koyeb, Supabase etc) still offer a free tier. Personally I don't like this type of bait and switch. If you can't sustain som

Yeah, the docs show different keys combination, like `jk` or `jh` etc (even with the bug described in the issue). You can't use the same key like I am used to (just `jj`), because there is no timeout between characters.

Helix's features look very cool, but I could not switch to it because of this bug [0]. It has been open since May 2022 and it is still not fixed. Basically you can't exit insert mode with a key combination like `jk`. Four years fe
