Yeah the whole thing around that is a bit iffy, it was a compromise I made because it's a little fiddly on very small screens (my phone) and I didn't have time to think about it properly.

Curious, as I didn't touch anything to do with cookies in the code. Perhaps browsers use the user setting for allowing cookies to also allow/disallow html5 localstorage, which the site does make use of.

Thanks, I have a todo list longer than my arm, a lot of which is UX related. There simply wasn't time, I expected to run out of bytes before I ran out of time but it turns out that 10k is a lot when you throw in zip compression - especial

I actually had some transitions etc. but I found they made it feel slow on anything but a desktop machine

Thank you very much for your kind words. The paradigm that I have in mind is fundamentally different to how web dev tools are usually done. This is just a very rapid prototype of some of the most basic elements done rather crudely but I hop

Great idea. They should offer smaller bounties for texts that don't meet the criteria, but would with some work, proportionate to how much work needs to be done. Though it seems that just evaluating them requires considerable effort.

Thanks. Still no luck, don't use Chrome day to day, and the original GreaseMonkey script that it's based on doesn't seem to work for me. Might give it a crack myself some time.

Cool. The map preview didn't work for me (using a non-US address, Firefox 4.01, Win7), but the embed code etc. was fine.

It's much more common practice in JavaScript. If you ever expect anyone else to have to deal with your code, it's nicer for them if you followed the conventions that most people are used to seeing.

He mentions "small source size" competitions as one of the reasons for doing this and they all count the size of the raw js file, not the size of the gzipped file as sent by the server.

Everybody in my height/weight range looks much, much more overweight than I do. I must have heavy bones. Or the titanium part of my arm (destroyed original bone in a fall) was actually made of lead to save money and the surgeons lied to me.
