if you're going to limit yourself to a subset of a language, then any "language" can offer that guarantee. but it's really not that language any longer

if a js codebase is structured appropriately, webstorm does an excellent job of intellisense and refactoring. netbeans 7.2 does an adequate job, but oracle ruined the js support when they bought sun (didn't like the rhino license - the

this approach is similar to the one that GObject uses, though stripped down a bit for embedded. i haven't used it in years, but it worked great with GTK+. the only downside i remember is the overhead of the virtual function calls (in c

this is true because the NAND has been crippled by imposing the FTL on it. if you could bypass the FTL, then the programming advice would be quite different, and if properly applied result in much better long term performance

one of the fundamental problem with SSDs is the impedance mismatch introduced by emulating HDDs. NVMe doesn't appear to help with that at all we need an interface that allows us to bypass the FTL and access the underlying erase blocks

SATA isn't obsolete - it's fine for mechanical disks. but the abstraction that's used for SSDs doesn't represent the true capabilities of the NAND and prevents a database (eg) from utilizing the true power of the flash
