It felt a bit persnickety - focusing on some minor details of the event that weren’t perfect, probably as a proxy for author’s larger skepticism. Skepticism is warranted given the big claims & article wasn’t too bad overall.

Yes, mentioned in live stream was that other co’s only spend 1/5 the time actually boring and the rest on logistics of putting up retaining walls and the like. Part of Boring Co innovation is to automate that and keep the borer working

Yes he mentioned it would be a standard any autonomous EV could add, and specifically said it would not be a walled garden. Makes sense to add these to the vehicles so the tunnel can be as ‘dumb’ as possible, since we’ll need a lot of tunne

FB is getting bad press because: a) historically it's done a lot of shady stuff and gotten a pass on that, b) it really screwed up around election time, with major / unprecedented geopolitical and economic consequence, c) it doesn

I considered chiplets but I probably dismissed them prematurely based on my understanding that they introduce some efficiency loss, and it would be un-Applelike to make their iDevice cash cow less efficient in order to serve the Mac niche.

I might simplify that further into three segments with different silicon strategies: Low (~15m units) - MacBooks except 15" MBP Med (~2-4m units) - 15" MBP, iMac, and Mac mini High (<1m units) - iMac Pro and Mac Pro In LOW, sil

My read is Apple is most definitely on for ARM Mac and this is too little, too late (I assume that's your reaction as well). Doesn't seem like much IPC increase and mostly just catch up on both features and process. I'm sure

All the Airplay tutorials I've seen are about being a receiver for Airplay signals from something like an iPhone. These boxes then plug into speakers for output. Does anyone know if there are tutorials on making an Airplay client that

Very good point, and 100% agree. Browsers need to be on the side of users, if only because authors are demonstrably terrible at user experience. This isn't just because there's intrusive, bright/colorful/motion ads every

I think we're probably at a mature enough point in websites-as-documents that browser compatibility won't be an issue, except in very specific more cutting edge media like 3d where they're dependent on non-standard features.

Nice to hear you're making progress. Given these are 30 years old, what's a few months here or there, right? :) Look forward to seeing v2.

Turns out this doesn't do the thing I'd expect. I set my homepage to Facebook and it doesn't load the container. Eh, back to my former opinion - Containers are great, Containers UX needs work.

Oh that's a bummer. They should add that functionality back and bake it into same UX. FWIW Safari Reading Mode information is linked to your Apple ID so it's stored externally as well.

Purely from a feature development perspective, I guess I don't see how adding a read-it-later / bookmarking feature would generate so much consternation. Functionally its roughly equivalent to Reading List + Bookmarks on Safari, w

Sure but lets not forget the single most successful consumer product in history (iPhone) owes much of its success to it's clean, consistent UX across a suite of built-in apps. More people probably use those than downloaded apps.
