It absolutely is a thing, at least, I'm a happy dual-booter for 10+ years now. Microsoft doesn't, at all, make that hell. They don't give a fuck, which is a different thing - that means that in some cases, they bork the other

I agree, but developers don't have freedom over the product. Product managers are the ones who have a say, and even then, they are in a strict hierarchy, often ending at "shareholders". So, many of the wrongs come from the sy

I disagree with this. I mean, it's as straightforward for me as you wrote it. But, 1. It hasn't worked like this when they elected Trump for the second time. Back then Kamala should have been the only valid candidate, according to

Web searches like Google are great when searching for not exact terms, like synonyms for example. I have never encountered a website that has a search capability like that. Google finds the song "Million voices" by Otto Knows, fro

Of course, it's still a piece of shit Windows. But I have basically copied the list from multiple third party sources, so, what got listed are actual features of the LTSC. And I think it's better that what's achievable with d

Take a look at the article I attached. Windows 10 itself is getting updates, that's not a problem, waning support from software vendors is.

Win 10 is getting deprecated. I use my install still, but I personally don't recommend it as a new install. https://tech.yahoo.com/gaming/articles/youre-still-gaming-wi...

Win 10 is already becoming past tense, despite it being updated for security until 2032. In the present, I don't think Windows 10 is a good recommendation anymore. When installing a new system, I'd just go with the 11. https:

I'd love to see data regarding maintenance. It's nice to debloat once, but does the debloat stick? How does it interplay with updates? Can I count on the script being updated for 1, 2, 5 years?

Yes and no. No, because sometimes Windows cannot be reasonably substituted, to no fault to the user. The usual suspects, multiplayer games, some software, when you need complete interoperability, etc. By the way, that 95% is lower actually.

I think the regular Windows versions are not worth it. Sure you can debloat the current configuration of the system, but it's a continually updated product, so it won't stay the same. Configurations will be overwritten, components

I rather suggest Win 11 LTSC. The Windows 11 IoT Enterprise 2024 LTSC supposedly: - doesn't have the tpm requirement - no copilot, recall, edge browser, ms store - allows local setup - no feature updates, only security - built-in optio

Thanks, I'm meaning it especially in the HN sense. I'd expect HN, and frankly, new sources as well, to focus on trends, larger pictures, context, education. Minutiae are entertaining, but distracting as well.
