It might depend on whether you differentiate between cutting edge and hype. Scala (for sure) and micro-services (probably) are still very niche. It's not as though there has been a generation of software written in them - they've

I don't disagree with the article, but I also don't know that pushing the boundaries of interactivity and "fun" are relegated to academia. Iterating on what makes things fun is (probably) highly unscientific and might be

Curious to see them branded as free - there isn't anything to indicate that they are. They are marked with a copyright and the message: > For questions, email us I suppose I was expecting something licensed (freely?) like CC

It sounds like the author wants basically everything about how Emacs is developed to change in order to better fit their ideas about what open source looks like. There are plenty of established projects that don't use a "pull requ

I think I would disagree. I don't know that I had the same read on the article as you, but it didn't seem Moore was advocating simplicity for simplicity's sake, but as a means to and end (where the end is robust, maintainable

I really want to like the idea of IronPython, having used Jython in the past (similar project, Python on the JVM) I understand the value in integrating external libraries into a "better" language (where better is totally subjectiv

On topic, I still don't have a good sense of what Hacker School/Recurse Center is . I understand that they place people looking for jobs - but is that the only people who attend (enroll?) or is it more like a private club? Some o

Some feedback: It seems there is no styling done to the select element drop-down, which makes for a markedly different look between FF/Safari/Chrome - was this intentional? Might not be your framework, but I'm experiencing so

The load time has nothing to do with Firefox or my operating system, it's a direct effect of bandwidth (mine is obviously limited). It's a content-heavy page with a huge number of requests.

Firefox still has this feature, I believe it is referred to as "quick find" and is available with either forward-slash or apostrophe. You can follow a link with Enter and go to the next instance of the search term with ctrl-g or c

From the "L Programming Language" PDF: “It’s like perl without the nastiest bits.” I think that really does capture the spirit of what this language looks like. I'm not sure it will reach any kind of general applicab

This isn't a very well-formed question so it is hard to answer meaningfully. You will need to identify what it means to "look so nice" since that is entirely subjective. I think once you've answered that you are well on
