The really annoying thing is how often it ignores these kinds of instructions. Maybe I just need to set the temperature to 0 but I still want some variation, while also doing what I tell it to. But mine is basically: Do NOT write an essay.

One of the best things I've discovered recently is how to activate the parasympathetic nervous system. It's quite easy: just inhale a belly breath but then draw the transverse abdominis back towards the spine below the navel. This

Under construction page template doesn't have an animated gif of a workman digging a hole. No flashing lights either. Hard pass.

Because a human can understand from first principles, while current AIs are lazy and don't unless pressed. See for example, suggesting creating bleach smoothies, etc.

But training just allows it to replicate what it's seen. It can't reason so I'm not surprised it goes down a rabbit hole. It's the same when I have a conversation with it, then tell it to ignore something I said and it k

The point is actual cognition. Without consciousness there can be no understanding which stunts the ability of AI and makes AGI impossible.

We don't know that either. We may be a collection of interacting consciousnesses arising from different organs that all pass around the baton called "I".

Who would watch it? It's super technical so not useful for beginners, it doesn't really help anyone do anything, so no use for people trying to do x with react, so... who would watch it?

The company that develops real AGI will become a trillion dollar company over night (and destroy all the competition). They are massively live-or-die incentivised.

Exactly. Which is why this shows they don't genuinely believe their own hype and fear-mongering. This says more than anything that people at the cutting edge don't really think AGI is on the horizon.

Of course, but stupidity and lying always potentially is. It doesn't need to be technical. That's a whole different conversation.

People can believe whatever they like. It doesn't make them right. The flaw is in your quote: there is no "super-intelligent AI". We don't have AGI, and given they were coming out with this a few years ago (GPT2?) it

It makes it look like the tech is so rad it's dangerous. Total bollocks, but great marketing.

Neither. It was pure hype to get free column inches. Anyone who's used their AI and discovered how it ignores instructions and makes things up isn't going to honestly believe it poses an existential threat any time soon. Now they&

The vast majority of software and businesses are replicative. If you only hire devs working on unique businesses or those with a sound business case you won't find many. They'll probably be too busy running successful businesses.

Ah so post-hoc categorisation. That's really useful. I suppose it's blindingly obvious to VCs the bad ideas that are bad vs the bad ideas that are good, which is why they never lose money.

Yes. And they've also introduced a new kind of tedium in going round in circles while it doesn't understand you, then you give up and go back to SO.
