You realize you can shrink your browser window width and increase the text size to make the layout how you want? For some reason there's always some highly-rated complaint on HN comments about the website layout, and I do not understan

Did you stop reading after those three sentences? Because I talked about digital assistants and Google Now, which is basically sending all your information to Google all the time.

> Hell, look at this very thread on HN. There are people further upthread essentially saying, "Whatever, I like it because it's convenient." Is that so ridiculous a concept? People routinely trade privacy for convenience.

With that definition, you may as well count sleeping as work too if you dream about your job. It sure is easy to work 24x7 when you count everything you do as work!

It's certainly more intellectually fascinating than this tired criticism. Its being upvoted people find it interesting. There are many stories on the front page. If this doesn't interest you, read the next one.

Your mail server isn't real competition to Gmail. Yahoo and Outlook probably are, but considering Gmail handles their mail fine, I'm not sure "anti-competitive" is the right angle here.

That's a really good way of putting it. You have the right to walk away or to yell back, but you don't have the right to make them stop talking. That's a really important distinction.
