In the past I've been told to hire specifically for the personality trait of being willing to push back hard. Though stubborn people might be difficult sometimes, I really appreciate their presence when requirements are unclear or unre

I think the role of AI in healthcare is interesting. LAION (nonprofit and creator of huge image datasets) has a Discord with a medical channel, and it's interesting to follow, even if a lot of it is over my head. I think bots could som

I have ADHD. Back when I was working in an office, I’d sometimes use noise generators with headphones to block out the office noise. It reminded me slightly of binaural beats in the way that it could put me into a different, more focused st

I've seen their sports sponsorships all over the place and often thought to myself "that's a risky sponsor - anything could happen" and here we are. Another blow to the trustworthiness of this industry

Agree. The moment you get into "Well, Mastodon is distributed networking software with different nodes, and you've got to ..." you have already lost a large percent of users. People expect to fill out a familiar registration

I'm probably in the minority here, but this is pretty much why I unsubscribed. I know I could probably find something interesting to watch, but everything interesting will cost me at least 5 hours of my time. I would rather watch 10-30

I'm just an engineer and I don't do much on the business side, so take this with a grain of salt, but I think the fact that you want to start another company soon is a perfectly good/normal reason on its own. You've foun

Hard for me to disagree with that. The reason I have an iPhone is that I was having trouble with the family group chat when my mom was in the hospital.

Yikes. I know there are points in an early-stage company where things are very unstructured and you end up in situations that you maybe wouldn't want as a larger company.. but in this case, it sounds like it would have been better for

This thread is cathartic. I've been feeling uncomfortable with the level of control being sought over the usage of these tools for a while, but didn't want to ruffle the wrong feathers while just getting into AI as a hobby. I thin

Yep, 8GB works fine. The 2070 is where I started. I wouldn't consider it ideal, though. There will be cases where you'll wish you could increase the resolution a little more, or could do just a few more per batch, but you're

Yeah. For something like this, you ideally would want a powerful GPU with 12-24gb VRAM. If you have something like an RTX 2070 at the bare minimum, you probably don't need this and could do a lot more steps a lot faster on a GPU, but i

My gut feeling is that artists will be the primary users of these tools and there will be a large market for those who are very skilled at producing, curating, tweaking, and post-processing the results. Some jobs will be lost due to clients

I really like the basic concept, but it might be a little weird being at a music festival where everyone is licking their wristbands. Are there sanitary concerns? When the main acts go on at a festival, the crowds get packed like sardines a

I don't view it as just a job. It started as a childhood hobby and will always be a part of who I am, but as I've gotten older I've found it more important to balance it out with physical/outdoor/social activities.

It's been going downhill. There's not enough talk about its decline of original content. That's what it was known for in its earlier days. Now it's mostly recycled old memes, reposts of Tiktoks, and reposts of tweets.
