I've been on linux 1999-2013 but then I got tired of it "getting better" UI wise so I bought Macs. I should check out how KDE is doing, Gnome and whatever Ubuntu delivers these days don't look like fun. Command lines...

DaisyDisk - the version you download from them, not the one from the app store which has to be sandboxed - helps with purging that crap. But then you have to buy an extra app to fix Apple's mess. Personally I don't mind because I

Yes, it's like in that joke about not having to run faster than the bear. As long as their competition is what it is, they don't have to put much effort in.

> Apple has not forced me Not for lack of trying. Heard the wife scream that they updated her to 26 2 days ago. And she had been warned. Not by me, she may not trust the conservative geek, but by our daughter who is cursing at iOS 26 rig

I suppose Apple bribed him to support Macs. Who's going to bribe him to support Linux, RedHat? Canonical?

Hmm that raises a question for me. I haven't done a project that uses a database (be it sql or no sql) where the amount of deletes is comparable to the amount of inserts (and far larger than like tens per day, of course). How does your

It's a great fun project but... There isn't much of a difference between this and having all notifications enabled. Yes it's a separate screen but you'll put it where you can see it while working or there is no point in

Do you expect an IAP peddler to support free software?

I saw two good points: 1. You can't criticize a game without actually playing it. Or even review it for that matter <looks at modern game reviews>. 2. It reminded me why I refuse to try Factorio :)

Ah well. Our project was Pis in a crappy mesh network so it lost data occasionally even if they stayed on, and it was not so important to have continous data anyway. We rebooted them every like 3 or 6 hours.

... for now. They're starting to be taxed. Also, someone who doesn't think in SV lattes may not afford to buy a car with unknown reliability.

by nottorp 9mo ago
I did say something about SV lattes didn't I? Not everyone is over there. Plus how much is the EV version of a 60k usd truck? 75k? More?

It looks good still, but we're down to 3 major providers. The future may bring entshitification yet...

by nottorp 9mo ago
What does this have to do with mileage? It's about affording to pay for the damn car itself. Compare the same category of car in gasoline and EV versions. See how the EV adds 10k to the price. Not much by silicon valley latte standards

DT owned for a long time what remained of the former state phone operator in Romania. They were the only provider that hijacked DNS lookup failures to redirect to their own page. They're gone out of this market now, fortunately.

Well, if EVs are made mandatory we'll have even less air polution because fewer people will be able to afford a car. The auto industry seems to have ran out of early adopters already. Now they need a kick in the privates to make cheap

By the way, why does everyone need to spam people about their "AI" offerings? "AI" is so good it basically sells itself right? Right?
