i assume when people are talking about k8s complexity, it’s either more complicated scenarios, or they’re not talking about managed k8s. even then though, it’s more that complex needs are complex and not so much that k8s is the thing drivin

Pretty sure it’s racist (or at least pejorative) in origin referring to the asian car customization / import scene.

you can not have a dockerfile in your project at all, push your code to them, and they’d build an image for it with nixpacks. you’d see nix stuff in your build logs, but it’s behind the scenes for the most part.

i don’t buy it. what if i’m using a tablet and drawing in photoshop? computer art isn’t just code and ai… whether it’s a physical or digital medium the artist is expressing their creativity and manipulating the tools to realize that vision.

shameless plug, but if you’re looking for a daily note taking thing, take a look at https://github.com/notnmeyer/daylog-cli . it’s a cli tool for daily task tracking. edits in $EDITOR (i use helix) and renders markdown

you’re better off using a separate task runner like make or task.

neat. anything you can share? code, blogs, etc? probably too far for me, but very interesting to follow someone on this journey

like a lot of folks i found nektos lacking. instead, i focused on keeping the gha workflows really light and putting any complexity in Task (taskfile.dev)—that way the meat of the workflows can be run locally, and the gha syntax is just the

surely this boils down to cost. if you prioritize low cost you will probably sacrifice aesthetics. maybe it doesn’t have to be that way, but it seems like it often is for better or worse. would i rather pay more in taxes for a nicer looking

i took a look at the prs and issues they linked. i didn’t realize most of this was 6 years old. additionally, the folks submitting the prs seemed ill equipped to make a convincing case for why anyone should be among the first to adopt a nob

zed is veerrrry good. i really appreciate the clean ui compared to vscode and its ilk. don’t love the pricing they just announced though. i don’t mind paying for my tools, but it not being unlimited scares me off slightly.

i really like this idea but feel conflicted. the privacy conscious side of me loves this… but having worked for early dev-tools startups, without telemetry we’d have had no idea how folks were using our tools or how some experiments played

cursor got there first, but it’s just not that good. stuff not built on top of vscode feels much more promising. i’ve been enjoying zed.

can confirm. nix + home-manager has been the configuration and dotfiles solution i’d been searching for. it’s not flawless, but its strengths outweigh the weaknesses. i still need homebrew for casks, but that’s fine.

my first thought too. on a mac at least it’s a little crusty, but it really does make it convenient to have a project completely and accurately describe its environment.

maybe i dont get it, but can we conclusively say that the gorilla wasn’t “seen” vs. deemed to be irrelevant to the questions being asked? “look at the scatter plot again” is anthropomorphizing the llm and expecting it to infer a fairly odd

you can write bash but run the scripts on systems that may not have bash, is my first thought. packaging “shell” scripts into a scratch container or similar sounds pretty nice for certain use cases.
