Honestly, though... isn't this just a total overreaction? I get that Victoria getting fired was bad for /r/IAMA (which once WASN'T a celebrity PR stop) but how does setting the whole damn subreddit to private help anyone

Having grown up with google, I still sometimes look at code (that I just got to work after an exhausting search on Stackoverflow) and think, "man, future generations of coders must figure out something more practical" and I'l

>Of course this assumes there are users who would prefer an ad blocker that lets responsible advertisers through as opposed to one that doesn't, but I believe that enough people do that it could work. I have doubts, unless you get p

This article (in older forms) has been floating around for a very, very long time on Dave Johnston's website. I remember it inspiring me to work harder on my own attempts at level design but also that there's a top tier skill (and

That's an interesting way to look at it, if I understand it correctly: Advertising itself is a problematic concept. Why should we weep? Everyone would be equally affected by this, it's not like someone is getting an advantage. May

Wait, you can't auto-rename stuff? I noticed in an older version of XCode (when I still bothered), that there were really basic refactoring tools missing for C++, but I assumed that was just because Apple hates C++. Apple obviously doe

>the much rumoured Apple Car. That's a serious rumor? The amount of critical parts in designing a car seems so overwhelming, I don't even see Apple having any real advantage, here. No real overlap with Apple's strengths. E

I'm a little disappointed how the top post in here presents design almost as an opposite to usability. That's not how it should work and certainly not how Apple got so successful. I think you might mean "aesthetics", tha

This just seems surreal to me. It's nothing more but a gut feeling, but isn't it likely there will come a time when the novelty of playing "social games" wears off and people just leave them en masse? I've gone through this years ago, befor

That's a very elegant way of saying: "Communication in math is just as fucked up as you'd think." As an outsider who only ever needs to use maths as a "tool" for very specific things, maths books and general attitude by professors and teach

What actually are those apps that truly require a browser? What's the benefit of binding a program to a web browser? There has to be one, otherwise it wouldn't be done so often, but I have a hard time seeing it. What are some concrete exa

I don't like how they basically squeeze around your body, wrapping you all up. It's hard to turn around or even just to the side. I guess the article was more about the 4 second rocking motion, though, which sounds delightful just from desc

This was with FF3, I think, but I once managed to over-write all my bookmarks with the temp ones from doing a separate install for a beta. Probably "my fault" on some level, but it still sucked. I have an aversion to trying out betas since

Indeed. I hate iTunes with a passion. It's maybe the worst product Apple has out. Usually they're at least great with interface design but somehow iTunes manages to make everything feel 3 times clunkier than it has to.
