They update, look for, and provide documentation. They realize the value of good documentation. They review their own PRs, with a focus on making them easy to review. They are vocal on public channels and aren't afraid to ask questions

I just wished Bitwarden would integrate with this... I know 1password has.

If you're adamant on doing this, make sure your team is on the east coast. With a 9h difference to San Fransisco it is hard to keep your hours within 9-5. Unless you're a night owl, in which case this advice is moot.

Probably a play on words in Swedish, "tillit" means trust / confidence.

The latest season of Westworld had a great vision om what prompt based character modeling could look like.

Worst case you could set up a router that denies all traffic by default, then work your way up to least privilege, and tunnel into the network with wireguard.

I don't think there's a single point of origin. Personally, I found my way to it through hacker news ~1 year ago where multiple interesting articles about nix suddenly started making their way to the front page. As for why people

Nice! I wrote about my experience as well in case it's useful, https://skogsbrus.xyz/blog/2022/06/12/router It's a bit long, but the title sections should let you skip to the interesting bits.

Very nice. I did this myself earlier this summer with NixOS + PC Engines APU2. Costed ~320 USD. Having a serial connection when tinkering with network config was absolutely crucial for me.

Keep in mind their growth rates though. In 2019 AMD had 6.7B in revenue and Intel had 71.97B.

NixOS does not fit into this, but Nix the package manager could. > Nix is a purely functional package manager. This means that it treats packages like values in purely functional programming languages such as Haskell — they are built by

I think of conda as jupyter notebooks. It's ok to experiment with and get something running quickly, but it's a bad idea to use for production code. Personally I never use either of these tools.

Amazing read and a beautiful website. I'm battling the urge to redesign my own site (yet again) with this as inspiration.

+1 for APU2. I've written about my experience with it (+ NixOS) here: https://skogsbrus.xyz/blog/2022/06/12/router As the other commenter said though - max speed is 1gbps. And approx 200mbit/s

It's crazy how good nixos+git gets when you've iterated for a while. I'm using the same setup on my work laptop, my home PC, and my router. Coming up on my 1 year anniversary with NixOS and couldn't be happier, even thou

I, too, need to review my code in Gitlab/Github/Gerrit in order to catch errors - somehow they're much more prominent there (like you said, I suppose it's due to adopting a "reviewer's mindset") rather tha

This mindset is similar to what people with wired headphones think of Airpods et al. It's not an apparent benefit when you're in the bubble of thinking it's normal to have a wire going across your torso all day and hearing th

I imagine this is very dependent on your hardware. In my case, I'm using a Lenovo P1 (gen 3). To be honest, I could have survived the segfault thing if I could predict when they would occur. But coupled with the fact that my laptop dra

Yes, I was a bit imprecise. It is Gnome's Wayland support that is too unstable. Given the thread topic, I didn't think to be explicit :)

I'd like to use Wayland, but it's not stable enough. I've lost count of the number of times I've lost work due to a segfault and then being logged out. And lots of applications still don't support it for screenshari

Something that's helped me a lot recently (after ~9 months of using nixos) is to actively look in nixpkgs to see what options a package exposes. For example, determining if and how your desktop environment can enable Wayland support.
