I doubt that most people understand that using Gmail (or similar) means their emails are analysed, much less that they are tracked across the web and that such info is assembled by hundreds of companies and sold and resold many times. Most

You say it's stupid but don't say why. Honestly dorm my experience this is a useful feature I'm not a tech expert but in most team meetings I'm the most technologically able person in the room. I end up quietly muting p

Just to mention that staples like grain have indeed much protein, so your sentence actually doesn't make much sense. The conception of food consisting of vegetable + meat/fish + staple (rice, bread, potato, ..) is an utterly moder

Because big orgs check for a minimum list of features and that list will nowadays always include some element of encryption/data protection. Many companies use zoom, or e.g. I've seen the OECD host seminars there. Have they done d

That's if the market is optimal. The market is not optimal as the big players buy the smaller ones and centralise where taxes are low, rather than stay where they came from.

You get a warm fuzzy feeling. And maybe the Ruby Goldberg machine of human suffering you activate when buying with them is a bit less cruel than that of Amazon.

I don't know the specifics here but many official sites also can have compromised parts, e.g. a subdomain with an old wordpress install or similar can get taken over.

But it only works if everyone has Apple devices, so it absolutely does not "just work" if even one family member doesn't have it. Most video chat apps are straightforward once set up on the phone.

Italy got more masks and PPE from Germany and France than China and Russia. You don't hear much about the former as their intention is to actually help, while the latter are doing a propaganda campaign.

From looking at some of those recipes Aeropress looks more like a cult than a way of brewing coffee. Instructions on exact seconds to wait for the water to cool or how many times to turn the spoon... I don't doubt that this influences

In Europe most will bet on a proper espresso machine or else a mocha express style espresso maker. Espresso has more flavour, less bitterness and a tiny bit less caffeine; for me it brings out the pure coffee flavour in a small punch. Serve

A mocha express style Italian coffee maker is super consistent in quality and (for my taste) gives much better flavour. The steam method takes out much of the bitterness compared to a poured coffee like Aeropress.

I don't understand the Aeropress love. I have a good full espresso machine for home. For the office I've tried: electric "mocha express" style Italian espresso maker (great coffee but colleagues complained about the stro

Really interesting. It currently shows week 12, so the second half of march. It looks like there is overall a lower number, especially for 0-4 year olds. Staying home saves lives beyond covid...?

If they do collect actual numbers but report much lower numbers it should not be too difficult to give realistic ones. Right now the Chinese state media is making a huge effort to paint the virus as a 'foreign' issue, claiming tha

China is literally claiming zero new infections while reports from the affected regions tell a very different story. How is that not an obvious effort to conceal the issue?

How come European Union countries, South Korea and Taiwan weren't hiding the issue then? They were unaware of the scale for a while, but even Italy did not try for a minute to hide it. Hiding or denying an epidemic is really something
