I am so tired of this attitude. If you don't like the conditions of a job, don't take it. But don't accuse the person offering the job of greed or whatever. A simple example: suppose you are an old person who has trouble keep

I am not in the Restaurant business, so I don't know how many meals they typically sell, or how much they charge. Let's say he pays his cooks 30$ more. How long are they open, how many people work in the kitchen? Two people, 12 ho

I am not convinced the theories in that article are correct. One example: "The ultra-rich need no encouragement to refrain from buying goods and services, so any increase in income concentration should put downward pressure on interest

How much of it permanently gets wedged inside of people's bodies, though? It seems to me plastics are not the only non-digestible thing that enters people's bodies, so it seems likely that bodies have a way to deal with it.

My takeaway from his course is that it is simply hard to do science properly. He had the example of a drunk bum showing up for a psychological experiment otherwise primarily run with students, completely spoiling the results. The first impu

Sure there definitely can be racist elements, just wondering if perhaps at least they could be mitigated by dressing in a certain way. That's not meant to justify the behaviour of the police, just to find a short term solution for bein

I wonder if Corona was part of the issue. There were a lot of weird rules about staying in parks during the last 1.5 years. At some point, people were allowed to walk, but not to stop or sit down, for example. There were quite a few ugly sc

I suppose most of it is about drug and gang crimes. Drugs are of course debatable. Here in Berlin we have parks taken over by drug dealers and people don't feel safe. What is the solution? I don't know. Berlin's government re

Lots of companies seem to spend money on non-business related things, so there seem to be some provisions for that in the usual shareholder agreements? Many art exhibitions seem to be sponsored by financial institutions, for example.

On the one hand I agree, on the other hand it is a fact of nature that clothing displays a message. I think demands that clothes should not be significant are simply unrealistic. I think even if police suspect somebody, they should still tr

Pretty sure you can turn off a lot of things in modern browsers, if you find the hidden settings menu. For sure you can turn off things like JavaScript or video.

So they went overboard with that feature. But I really doubt humans would do much better. I think if they encounter somebody with the name of a known serial killer, most people would at least pause.

I've been using the browser's password manager as protection against phishing, as the password manager won't fill in passwords on the wrong site. So I guess it works in a similar way with the Yubikey? OK.
