Probably an extremely large number of companies can be counted on something as ginormous as the average human middle finger; I could probably fit 20 if I write really tiny and could fit a lot more with access to other devices.

I wish that was an option for at least half the codebases I've worked on. Tangent: you'd be surprised how many life threatening codebases have little to no tests at all.

That only works if the code was written in a semi-digestible format; I've met my fair share of monstrosities that were propped up by race conditions -- you're not going to briskly digest them in a week (especially if you're

Expensive because, under deadlines, it's a bit of a nightmare to have to twist your mind into all these shapes (and shatter a few times because your first couple passes of understanding are going to go so right until they go so wrong)

Yeah, it totally makes sense to compare gigantic companies to all other ones. Let's also extrapolate what should happen to a subcompact in a collision by looking at what happens to a tank in those same circumstances.

If it was truly an identical species and it was the simplest form of life possible, you're saying that it could only be transported from earth? That seems a bit shaky. You don't think the same factors that created the first life

I am absolutely not. There are lines I didn't draw for the sake of time. Re: think about how you could translate my hypotheticals into how nature could do that on its own (obviously over a much longer course of time and fortuitous cond

1. Identical DNA is probably impossible in any case, even on earth, right? 2. Seems like you're broadly stretching the definition of a biological ancestor.

I don't think you understand what I'm saying. You can arbitrarily create models of earth life that didn't have a common ancestor via "my" hypotheticals which are just as valid as univeral common ancestor (which pred

And the answer gave such certainty to what ancient life would be like that my hypotheticals should be able to be answered (in the same context) with just as much certainty. It's trivial to apply my hypotheticals to models in which life

This seems like such a huge reductive statement to make. Suppose: on some planet untouched by man, there was a species identical to a species on earth, would you say they share the same ancestor? Suppose: I generated an organism (that alrea

Not convincing in the general sense at least; I get high on learning new things that change my perspective entirely -- and that doesn't seem to be uncommon

The specific sub-culture they're in is classically viewed as hypermasculine (Mexican-American) and they are well-respected in that sub-culture.

I like how you're implying I haven't worked here for years and don't know the options. I have the best possible option and that system can be flaky for hours on end depending on a lot of factors.

Seems like it would also not be so wonderful if your remote employees are in rural areas (like the Joshua Tree area I reside in); I don't think I could handle the latency between keystrokes.
