Brave should work with Facebook to unlock a massive amount of this content. Facebook will not work with Google for competitive reasons, and for similar reasons, it would make sense for them to build up a search competitor like Brave. My own

Unfortunately no politician will have the guts to do this. This is why people are skeptical of the federal government getting involved in just about anything. They passed this program to help students afford school, and it’s done the opposi

Apple is disincentivized to take this on. Apple sells ads on search indirectly via Google. (Google pays Apple to be the default search engine.) Google’s payment to Apple is bigger than the revenue Apple makes from the Apple Watch.

These folks know exactly what they're doing. I've worked with one of them -- he saw it as a plus that he's slowing down drivers and blocking traffic and would cycle in a way that made it impossible to pass him. He framed it

I get what you’re saying. But remember laws like DOMA that were passed not very long ago that were explicitly written to prevent states from expanding rights. And almost all recent civil rights advancements have not come from congress but t

Federal power can be used to eliminate civil rights just as easily as it can be used to create them. Besides, the congress stopped expanding civil rights decades ago. Now it only comes from the Supreme Court, which is unaffected by more fe

That's because Reddit is one of the few places left on the web that is open (aka: not a walled-garden like Facebook) and has people talking to people without financial incentive. HN is another. Reddit is changing fast though. It'

American law is so disjointed. On one hand, we're decriminalizing drugs. Pot is widely legal now. Other states are allowing mushrooms and LSD. Cocaine and heroin are not legal, but have all but been decriminalized on the West Coast.

This happened to me in Seattle. I have a duplex and my renter just stopped paying. It's a joke that this had anything to do with Covid - the job market is tighter than it's ever been. I will never again take a chance on a renter

This is facepalm level “science.” Longer life is correlated with general health. General health is correlated with strength. And strength is correlated with grip.

Ethics aside, this is bad analysis. Gas prices putting financial stress on Applebee's employees will also put financial stress on Applebee's customers, who may cut spending on things like going to Applebee's.

The economy would collapse, along with the US government, at even moderately-high interest rates. The federal government is $30t in debt. Even a small rise in interest rates would quickly make the entire federal budget servicing the debt.
