I stand by my position with respect to the necessity for character assassination to be confronted forcefully. I also intend to better respect the sites rules going forward. I never offered excuse for my behavior. Only context.

'Sam Altman is only concerned with benefitting himself, and those that are loyal to him.' The comment I responded to is in agregious breach of the rules. Altman has a well established reputation as a person with a deep commitment

I'm 36. Fully agree with your comment and the above as well. Resigned 6 years ago due to differences at the top after 10 yrs building. A bad guy was treating everyone poorly. Ranged from rage beratements to gross narcissistic manipulat

I think Ilya got very worried that his concerns were not being heard. I think the rest had possible reasons ranging from 'I'm sure Altman is dangerous' to 'I'm sure Altman shouldn't be running this company'

I'm sorry to say... But my analysis is either: he was poorly informed by the board Or He agrees that they are off the rails with respect to safety. See the Atlantic article, if you havn't read. Lots of context. https://

I doubt that. This is AAA talent. They can always land elsewhere. I doubt there would even be hard feelings. The team seems super tight. Some folks aren't in a position to put themselves out there. That sort of thing would be totally u

I liked his initial letter. There seem to be red flags. The team seems to currently not fully recognize the official corporate structure, though I'm sure they are still doing their jobs as instructed by the interim ceo.

There's a hilarious meme here where someone makes a simulation of the current situation and humorous back and forth can be had. MIT license for that idea, someone go do it. I've got some car work to do today.

Uh.... Are we gonna go through the definition of any? I believe any means... Any. Including their head researcher. I'm not continuing this. Your position is about as tenable as the boards. Equally rigid as well.

Some commentors here seriously tried to argue with me that some of this grade AAA talent will be undesirable now. Ha... I don't think so y'all. The board though? Yeah... Fully less employment offers for them.

Ofc his job is to maximize shareholder value. The broader point is that considering short term personal financial gain is beneath an exec at Satya's level. He has a responsibility to do more than just maximize value though. Corporate v

Mmm... I guess for me pursuit of power as a choice of language carries a certain negative connotation. In semantic terms I agree. The negative connotation is the baggage I bring. I recind my implied critism. Pursuit of power is not necessar

What? I didn't say anything about the likelyhood of competition to state of the art. You are imagining I fall in a crowd you've observed. Maintaining statute of the art ofc is a constant battle. Google could be top dog in 2 weeks.

So untrue. That team had set state of the art for years now. Every major firm that has a spot for that company's chief researcher and can afford him would bid. This is the team that actually shipped and continues to ship. You take him

So true. MSFT looks classy af. Satya is no saint... But evidence seems to me he's negotiating in good faith. Recall that openai could date anyone when they went to the dance on that cap raise. They picked msft because of the value syst
