My current swiss army knife is Rails+Vue for web/api, plus React Native for mobile if necessary. Of course, I'd use something different if the project necessitated anything in particular.

AFAIK one of the causes in Seattle (can't speak to SF) is a lack of police resources - the population boom left them kind of far behind. Seattle has ~20 officers per 10k residents. To compare, Atlanta has ~30, NYC has ~40.

See my other reply in the thread, but basically, they were doing a lot of stuff that at first seemed like proactive customer service initially, but later seemed much more like scouting to determine if i was going to give them 5 stars or not

They were very pushy about asking "are you going to give me 5 stars?" before/during the stay, and saying things like "my business depends on 5 star ratings". Obviously there are lots of paths out of that situation t

Particularly since Airbnb is a two way system. I once stayed in a place where I was basically being told to give them 5 stars or else they'd give me 1 star for being a difficult guest.

Sounds like they did the switch to avoid getting caught running an illegal or otherwise somehow contract-breaching Airbnb. If they used their correct address, their building would figure it out and shut them down.

I did in fact try, and was rejected either immediately or after a few weeks of reviewing my request. IIRC one provider did let me in, but it didn't have the functionality I needed.

Agreed. I had a side project I wanted to work on a few months back, and had to icebox the idea because the current flight related APIs are not great, and access is geared towards larger, established companies.

I feel like there's also something to be said about old media and their revenue models. Commercial breaks are written in to most shows, and show length matters. With newer media, it doesn't matter if you have a 22 minute episode

I don't have a ton of consistency here. Things that are most consistent for me right now: - I'm a pretty big fan of riced cauliflower blends, which you can get in basically any frozen foods section. Great replacement for rice.
