i think his theory is that HNers and redditors have a more elitist attitude about themselves and their tech skills, but will fall for the same basic traps as their grandma. (or, thats what it sounds like to me)

If you don't control the system it runs on, then you are completely at the mercy of someone else's business. If they go broke, your software goes down. but, couldn't you make this argument about many things? your company's payment gatewa

i don't really want to give it an upvote because its unrelated and it has an affiliate tag. sets a precedent. i might be ok with one or the other, but not both.

depends on what type of post. there's plenty of stuff that doesn't show up here or doesn't do well here that shows up on reddit and does well, and vice versa. the crowd is similar, but different.

agreed, although to note -- the last 3 are likely much better because their plot is so much more set in stone. the middle books meandered because RJ did so much in the first 3 books that he realized he had to let the plot catch up to the a

can't we have both? a gentleman hacker farm? a small countryside farm where you can go to bootstrap your own startup. i mean, we've kind of discussed similar in the past and i still actually kind of like the idea.

the path to monthly revenue isn't necessarily a linear one, no. but it doesn't mean that it still isn't a viable metric. take the exact same argument you made here, swap "revenue" and "pageviews", and it still pretty much makes sense.
