Just to name a different but related approach, as a hobby project I built a (non LLM) model that trained mainly on data from stocks that didn't move much over the past decade, seeking ways to beat the performance of those particular st

Aaaannnnd.... I figured out last night that I don't need to go to 9, only to 8.4. Strangely, what version I needed to upgrade to from 8.0 was not stated anywhere in the mass of emails Amazon sent me. I hadn't yet gone on RDS and n

I think it was a mistake of the left to brainwash white kids to think of themselves as belonging to a group of evil oppressive colonizers - precisely because a few decades of that type of over-the-top racial "justice" schooling ha

I think a lot of people in the US are clinging to the hope that this type of friction, along with judicial decisions, will cause the process of removing our legal protections to stall out. I'm not optimistic that this is the case, beca

Not trying to oversimplify. But suppose 95% of the probe's mass was intended to be jettisoned ahead of it on arrival by an explosive charge, and would then serve as a reflector. That might give enough time for the probe to be captured

Pretty sure I went to a bar in NYC that still had a urinal trough running directly below the bar as you were standing there... so one wouldn't need to leave the bar to take a leak. This was 30 years ago. McSorleys maybe?

I know it's fashionable to say that democracy itself leads to these outcomes that destroy democracy. I think Arendt was right about self-colonization and overproduction of elites being the main thing that leads to totalitarianism. Ther
