Life is not fair! A lot of times bad things happen due to no fault of your own. That doesnt mean government should come bail you out. In fact I am bootstrapping a business and if you dont let this event kill all my competition I would call

We should not take for granted that value can be transferred through time for free and without any risks. When you give another party control of your money (including a bank) they make decisions on your behalf for which there are consequenc

Can the banking system learn from this and improve? For sure it can and that would benefit everyone. But we cant retroactively change the rules. In fact you can argue that people would vote more pro-legistation if something like this was al

There is not much difference if you look at it from the point of view that one of those parties was just underestimating the risk they were taking (which is true of all bad decisions in life). I see no reason to bail out depositors over 250

Businesses need to pay their employees from the money they have not from taxpayer money. If a business loses that money because their banking partner lost the money, taxpayers have no obligation to help (beyond the 250k)

I think the only titles that make sense in a tech org are Software Engineer, Senior Software Engineer, Lead Software Engineer, Engineering Manager and CTO. Everything else is more noise than signal.

299 per month is reaching for a non battle tested product. At most I would pay 30 usd one time and see what it gives me. Amjad at replit is already building this with a whole bounty thing thrown in so tough market. Good luck to you though.

Question is...Would your trust for them increase or decrease if they started speaking less openly?

Here is a thought experiment for you. First think of the people you trust the most in this world, then imagine if they stopped speaking about whats on their mind with you. Would your trust in them increase or decrease?

In general trust is increased when all parties are speaking openly about whatever they are thinking.

Not anything racist or illegal but yes I find pc culture insufferable. It stifles creativity and most importantly reduces trust between parties. For context I am an Indian guy.

pointing mistakes is the job of the linter, the job of the compiler is to run my program asap and even try to fix my mistakes automatically. There is nothing more pedantic than a compiler saying "Oh you shouldnt do this as it can poten

In this thread, tech people whining they are'nt paid very well or dont have enough power when literally no one is stopping them from making their own company and making more money. Power belongs to the person that takes it.

Dont mind the downvotes, I somewhat agree with you with the the lack of freedom argument (although not quite sure about the larger context around dystopia). To put it in other words, I want my tools to do whatever I want them to do and not

Ah yeah that makes sense. I would rather call a single C++ function from Python that calls other C++ functions (or itself). In case of pysimdjson however, Cython makes much more sense. Overall this is way better than writing everything in R

Thats almost like saying it would be hard to make money with a website running on nginx. OpenAI/LLM can be a base layer but you can do a lot of stuff on top of that.

How does everyone feel about hiring iOS devs in this environment? I feel like its too hard for SwiftUI devs to pick up UIKit when they get blocked and usually they just give up. Also in interviews junior devs have no clue about AutoLayout o

Yeah there is a learning curve I admit. Usually you try to change the size of your view and see how things resize. And yes StackView is your biggest friend. Usually when the system ignores your constraint it says that on the log. It can be

Native platform development is about going as smooth as possible. Otherwise React Native serves very well for mediocre quality stuff.

For an expert with some mathematical intuition layout constraints can do a custom layout that lays out perfectly on all screen sizes much better than declarative. However there is a learning curve I admit.

Or you can structure your app in UIKit and build custom views and nice animations in SwiftUI. SwiftUI is a nice abstraction but a lot of it is really unnecessarily force fed by Apple because it helps them get more amateur developers into th

My sweet spot is 1.Flask with Postgres for API. 2. C++ with Pybind11 for core performance engine. 3.Whole stack running on a single cloud instance with docker compose. 4.Next.js, Typescript, Tailwind for frontend. 5.Github Actions for CI&#
