Wow, I watched the whole video and all I can say is -- huh? That looked totally painful, and not at all fun. Granted, much of this is due to the fact that it's a touch interface, but I'm not seeing it as very useful. I'm a h

Got any hard data on that (seriously, I'd like to know)? I don't know anyone who does banking on their phone -- it's all desktop. Granted, I haven't taken a formal survey or anything.

Or the fact that the task is so mundane/boring/annoying/irritating (pick an applicable adjective) that it's worth it to you to spend a day automating it so you never have to do it again .

In other words, please don't call your service "Serverless" if it runs on a freaking server! :-D Based on the title, I also was expecting something that was designed to run client-side.

No, you did not "do it again". I almost never read anything on Reddit. So that was not the source of confusion.

Nope, I know I'm not thinking of Reddit (as I said in reply to another comment, I've spent almost no time on Reddit, and would not have seen their guidelines at all).

Nope. I've never spend much time on reddit, and I'm certain I've never seen that page before. Perhaps I am thinking of comments other people made on HN in the past (who thought that the policy was as I described).

I'm certain that I'm not thinking of somewhere else. I'm completely open to the possibility that I just remember it wrong, but I'm sure that it was HN that I was thinking of, and not another site.

Am I wrong in remembering that the HN guidelines used to say that you should not downvote someone's comment simply because you disagreed with it? I went looking, and I don't see that in the current guidelines. I could be wrong

It is true that I accept more limited choices of certain things by living in a rural location. There are many benefits that I enjoy from being rural that I weigh against technological needs -- it isn't a simple "pick one or the o

First off, I was neither arguing for nor against net neutrality. I was responding to "With the wide availability of cellular service that provides broadband speeds pretty much everyone in the country has multiple choices of ISP."

If you live near a city this is often true (at least in the US). However, there are at least two problems with this: 1) often the broadband provided by mobile services is capped and/or much more expensive than the services provided by

And even for the people who have non-Gmail accounts, Google has made deals with a ton of ISPs to host their email service for them -- so you have a Gmail account even if don't have a Gmail account (in a manner of speaking).

I'd be interested to see some data on what the real ratio is. I suspect that 1 in 5 might actually be high, which IMHO is sad -- not because I think less of those without any kind of Lisp experience, but because I think they are seriou
