I gave Zellij a shot a few months ago. It really felt too "modal" for me though. I've been a Vim user forever so I'm not exactly modal-averse. But TMUX has always felt more like Operator Pending mode in Vim. Having Zelli

I agree. It's also true of nearly any program. If you do not set its configuration properly, it may not work as expected. In the case of TMUX, it can be a bit annoying because it's not immediately apparent _why_ things look wonky.

I was an OMZ user pretty much since I adopted ZSH many years ago. I never really experienced much of the slowdown(s) that people tend to complain about. Even still, getting my dotfiles set up on a new machine was always a little bit of pain

Definitely Mise! I was an asdf user for a couple of years and Mise was such a nice replacement. I have to juggle several other languages, and each having its own tool for tool version management was a non-starter.

If anyone is building using experimental features that are either flagged or unflagged in Chrome, that's NOT on Chrome. For example, if I built a feature based on Chrome's weird Observables, sure, I could do it... it would work no

I did this once! I was given a "create Battleship" take-home assignment. Normally, I'd say, "yeah, I don't have time for this". But I happen to really like that game and had never thought of how to model it in

Isn't this kinda the idea behind TinaCMS? Using git/files instead of a database? It's been a long time since I've looked. The "sweet spot" really depends on the use case. If you're wanting to give content

Extremely hard to tell an HR person, "Right-click on here in your Workday/Zendesk/Salesforce/etc UI and export a protobuf". Most of these folks in the business world LIVE in Excel/Spreadsheet land so a CSV feel

I'm guessing the poster is referring to AOSP and custom ROMs. If so, yes, it is entirely possible, but not something I'd expect any normal human being to do.

Having worked in the graphic design industry during the 90's, no. There's no way I'd have just slipped a font I didn't own on a disk and sent it off to a printer. When it comes to fonts for coding... sure there was that

Just here to bask in the nostalgia. I hit up bash.org from time to time just to remember what was... and what will probably never be again.

The entire JVM ecosystem is built around "we all know you're using an IDE, right?" I among most folks who use Kotlin are aware of the Community Edition of IntelliJ. The price isn't the thing keeping me from using it. 1.

Oh no doubt it's my favorite backend way to build an API. Just toss in SpringBoot or Quarkus and it's very nice. The only thing that bothers me is that it's a pain to use with NeoVim.

Kotlin really got lucky with Google choosing it for Android dev. While Google is known for relegating some of its tech to the dust bin, Android is too big at the moment. Flutter + Dart was a little surprising though. If they hadn't cho

I just had this same thought this morning. I sure do with OCaml was far more popular. Right now, if you're planning a startup, you want something that you can just snap together a bunch of well-tested libraries. You want DB libraries,

I've had a few hits from recruiters lately that mention Ruby on Rails. My experience in the Salt Lake City valley was that several successful businesses started with that stack and now it's just sort of "entrenched". Som

I've worked for multiple shops that basically just moved to Java 8 and then bolted an anchor to the nearest pylon. A few made one move to JDK 11 for the "LTS" experience. I can understand their reluctance to move on as the mo
