Honestly this is something I love about Kotlin/Rust/Go. You either have them, or you do not. There are no time-wasting silly arguments over their veracity... just because a language makes them optional.

I haven't used PHP in a lot of years. I just took over a team that uses it so I thought, "let's play with it a bit". After looking at Symfony (and not hating it) I thought, "this looks so much like Java+Perl (with s

JavaScript did that too in the last couple of years. It's thoroughly confusing that we'd want to catch an exception and toss away all knowledge of WHAT exception was thrown. Unless one really just wants to log, "bad things ha

The folks working on Snowpack didn't just give up. They transitioned over to working on Astro. It was a very positive move. I see great things coming out of that project as we move into a more "server rendered" future.

My Amiga 4000 booted right into VideoToaster. So it took me a couple of months before I really started messing with stuff in Workbench. Turns out, the used machine we bought to run our post production studio, had Directory Opus, Deluxe Pain

I've been watching how Go and Rust tooling has been finding its way into the JavaScript ecosystem. I've been out of the PHP realm for about 10 years but I did find RoadRunner for PHP at one point. That's also an app server wr

Who among us has never complained about a manager or some company C-suite. While there's NOTHING wrong with that, could you imagine those comments being shown to them? Could you imagine what might happen after that? Just because I'

The process in that doc provide the primitives on which SSR can be built. Vite-plugin-ssr is one such implementation. It provides a rather "NextJS-like" experience out of the box. Although, it allows for very easy differentiation

While that's absolutely true, I'd be totally fine with what an LSP _does_ offer. Auto imports, go to definition, list usages, etc. I don't need the heavy refactoring tools.

I had high hopes that JetBrains would relent on their decision to avoid implementing a Language Server Protocol server. There is a 3rd party implementation out there, but it needs a lot of help. I realize this cuts into their core business.

Pine and Mutt were my jam back in those days. It really did depend on whether you were keen to use Pico or Vim as your reading/composing tool. (Although you could pretty much use whatever you wanted)

I suppose I AM confused then. I don't mind someone asking me complex algorithmic problems as long as we're WORKING toward a solution together. To me, leetcode means, "you have 45 minutes to solve these 2 or 3 problems... I&#x

I guess I am just saying I didn't feel like herded cattle like I did with Amazon's automated leetcode/hackerrank rebranded system. I mean, now I'm just here to watch the downvotes pile on....

Have you ever interviewed with Facebook/Meta? They don't do leetcode problems. Say what you want about them as a company, but I've done quite a few interviews in my career and their process was one of my favorites.

Whether it's Thread.new() or go func() or whatever. There needs to be an explicit way to say, "do this concurrently, NOT synchronously". That's pretty much all async/await is trying to accomplish, no?
