If you want to play this game: try growing up as a liberal, atheist geek from out of town in a rural bible-belt town of ~7,000. Then, try becoming an adult and getting over it so that you can perform your civic duty.

Yeah, really offensive how someone ripped off Monster Galaxy's completely original concept, which sprung fully-formed from the untainted mind of Mike Sego. (note: not ripping on Mike, he seems like a really nice, cool guy who's worked har

Reality TV killed music the same way it killed being young & drunk - not at all. And if you think there's a significant difference between, say, TC Disrupt & Idol, I think you're giving Disrupt way too much credit. I do agree with y

As I understand it (which is to say, poorly), one of the more pressing reasons is this: the SEC requires companies with 500 or more shareholders, whether or not they are publicly traded, to publicly disclose financial information - exactly

I came here to suggest fees dropping as volume rises, but of course it's already been covered! All I can add is that you're not even factoring in the cost of finding a competent developer and paying them to make that happen - small nonprofi

There are, however, potential problems with this formula, which I think is what the thread parent was getting at. For example, it is discouraging to log in to HN and see that your karma has fallen since your last visit. Using your formula,
