Kaiser Permanente is technically a non-profit. Their wages are more or less in line for tech jobs at bloated big bureaucratic companies where the performance demands are low and the meetings schedule is full. edit: but other non-profits

It's astonishing how many systems and apps still have no password security in 2016. It's really not that hard to protect your users' passwords.

I'm not so sure it's cheaper. The business cost can be enormous. See the Target breach, which led to FIRING the CEO. And Yahoo, which may have their deal with Verizon at risk now due to the latest breach.

The value of avoiding a security breach is soooo often overlooked. Classic case of upper-middle management willing to just limp along with legacy security issues because nothing has gone wrong yet...

Even an open-source client is hard to trust as a native install in your mobile OS. Sooo many ways your phone is insecure...

Even with perfect information and highly experienced experts, I've found that accurate estimating is so unlikely that it it's basically a waste of time to try for accuracy. Just go with a high level vague guess and keep updating

I'll add 4. Web apps can actually offer better privacy and security than mobile apps at this point.
