If your main goal is easy access to platform APIs, then I would probably stick with the native language/UI toolkits. Flutter is a UI framework; if you don’t care about making cross-platform UIs then there’s no real reason to use it. If

Yep, that was immediately apparent! It would definitely make a difference. I still think the market for "people who would buy a controller add-on for their phone" is quite small though.

I experimented with streaming PC games to my iPhone via SteamLink. Nifty concept, but playing traditional PC/console style games on a phone isn't much fun. Your thumbs obscure 1/3 of the screen and the UI elements are often t

On Android, iOS and MacOS, the 3D viewport is just a widget just like any other in the Flutter hierarchy (so has access to gestures/filtering/etc). Doing that on Windows is more difficult (as there’s no D3D backend for Filament),

I'm also looking forward to trying flutter_gpu when it's released (or at least closer to stable)! That's probably going to be the default choice for most people working with 3D/Flutter. I'd say there are two main di

If the second link is rendering at 60fps then it’s probably an issue with the DartPad version, which doesn’t surprise me, that was hacked together pretty quickly. I’m planning to do a much more robust version when I get a chance. Thanks for

Which browser? The DartPad is a little bit different from a normal WASM/Dart installation, and on certain browsers (Firefox in particular) it involves a CPU buffer copy which will be slow. Do you see the same at https://nick

Last I checked, the Flutter GitHub repo had more than 12k issues open, so I definitely agree that there's a lot of questions/issues. But I take that as an indicator of popularity, not a serious problem with the project. If there w

I don't want to be turn this into a "Flutter vs other UI frameworks" thread, but I'm curious - what type of problems are you seeing? To me, state management is a non-issue - there's a built-in option (StatefulWidget

threejs/babylon are awesome projects! For me, the main drawback is that they are JS/web frameworks, whereas Thermion (and Flutter/Dart more generally) gives you a cross-platform rendering + UI framework out of the box (and st

A few people were requesting an interactive demo of Thermion[0], so over the weekend I created a custom DartPad so you can see it in action from your own browser ( https://dartpad.thermion.dev ). Chrome only for now, I know there

If it does play out like this, I feel that inferencing will be taken over by lower-power ASICs (e.g. Groq) or even commodity CPU hardware. GPUs are an expensive solution (both power consumption and capex) to a straightforward problem. There

If you're bringing money to the table, you won't have any trouble finding engineers. If not, then don't worry about selling the idea (which is probably worthless in its current form). You'll really have to sell yourself.

Check out Sonic (cartesia.ai). Great quality, very fast - but with a few kinks to work out (going off the rails on long utterances, random sounds, etc).
