None of those companies are created by the Chinese government. They're obviously subject to the Chinese government, whose whims may change at any given moment, but as we're seeing at the moment, so are the American companies. And

With current paradigms, yes. I'm hoping to see more focus on architectures that are more amenable to distributed training in the near future.

Facebook is the 21st century version of the tabloid newspaper and daytime Jerry Springer. Highly lucrative, but bottom of the barrel stuff. Launching a prediction market is exactly the type of thing I would expect from them.

> Wouldn’t you kind of expect to be fired if you release a project under your employers name that’s not even associated with them and hasn’t been cleared? Not really, no. I'd expect a stern reprimand, but getting fired is extreme. I

It's not immediately clear, but this seems to be 250 tok/s on an M4 Max. For comparison, the current agent swarm challenge on HF is at 508 tok/s on a A10G GPU: https://huggingface.co/spaces/gemma-challeng

It did install, but then would hang when trying to configure the provider (specifically I was trying diffusiongemma via Nvidia). I gave up after a couple of attempts and moved to the next one.

Good timing, I was looking for alternatives earlier today. opencode didn't install properly and I wasn't a fan of oh-my-pi and nanocoder. MiMo code (via my z.ai coding plan) is very pleasant so far, nice UI and seems to respond fa

It's shady because they were going to silently poison your outputs . It's actually worse than it sounds initially, because Fable isn't actually omniscient when it comes to safety classification. Many people (myself included)

Call me a cynic, but I don't believe this is a genuine change of heart at all. It feels much more like a panicked response to something that might undermine their IPO. Even if you trust Anthropic today (which I don't), they clearl

I'm not even working on anything biological/medical, almost all PyTorch work is getting flagged (not even a safety notice and a downgrade, just an outright refusal with "this is against our ToS").

You can download the weights and run it yourself if you have appropriate hardware. Same can't be said for Claude Opus or ChatGPT.

Opus 4.6 was a 2025 model and many people (myself included) feel that if that's where models peaked, we won't be disappointed. Even at 2-bit quantization, DS4 is probably on par with a 2024 frontier model. You can run that today

As much as I like Valve, it's difficult to ignore how large a part they played in shifting the PC market towards F2P. I bought TF2 with the Orange Box, and for a few years it was amazing. Then it went F2P with hats, and overnight the p

Slightly OT, but after using DeepSeek V4 Pro for the last few weeks, I’ve found that it’s basically on par with Opus…except when it comes to driving Blender. This isn’t even a visual issue (DS isn’t multimodal), for whatever reason Opus jus

I’m not going to pretend it’s on par, it’s clearly a step behind when it comes to thinking and planning. However, it’s a very good “doer” - if I give it a list of well-scoped tasks, I can usually rely on it to execute them all correctly.

I was apartment hunting in Melbourne in 2015 and I was appalled at the quality of most inner-city apartments. Tiny shoeboxes, no sunlight, paper thin walls. At the time I didn't think they should have been allowed to be built. But look

I’ve never delved fully into IP law, but wouldn’t these be considered derivative works? They’re basically just reimplementing exactly the same functionality with slightly different names? This would be different from the “API reimplementati
