The free tier only gives you 60 seconds of animation per month, and also isn't licensed for commercial use. Even for a hobbyist, 60 seconds wont go far!

Completely tangential point - Rokoko Video is fine for a free tool, but if you need something better and you're willing to pay, there are other options. I spent a couple of days evaluating various video-only mocap and in the end went w

Totally agree. My first soldering iron was a cheap ($20) Chinese POS that simply couldn't get hot enough. Every time, I'd end up with crusty misshapen blocks because the solder would partially solidify before it even came off the

I'm not sure how deep that moat is. As soon as you open up the API, anyone can distil ChatGPT (or at least, some smaller part of it) by fine-tuning another model on its outputs[0]. I'm guessing that this is the #1 fear for people

I have one specific task where GPT-3.5 failed completely, but GPT-4 succeeded spectacularly (generating correctly formatted AutoRig Pro bone mappings in Blender from one armature to another). 4 still fails regularly on a lot on seemingly ba

That list was from 2021 when rents were high, but not ridiculous. Back then, the slightly higher rents were offset by the lower income tax rate. In the last 12 months, though, it's become obscene. It would definitely top the list.

I agree. I can't take claims of consciousness/intelligence seriously but that doesn't mean I throw the baby out with the bathwater. GPT4[0][1] isn't perfect, but it's an incredibly useful tool, and I encourage every

I tried this the other day for generating basic Chinese conversations - the quality is surprisingly good. While it's still behind the latest GPT, but the gap isn't as large as I thought it would be.

There’s a repository with a VITS model for English/Chinese/Japanese voice cloning that was pretrained on Genshin Impact voices. I’m not actually sure whether that’s illegal (in the civil/IP sense), provided you’re not using t

Actually you’ve already been able to do that for a few years now with Epic’s LiveLinkFace app (which was basically just a wrapper around Apple’s ARKit). This is just their own (much higher quality version) of it.

Exactly the same thing happened in Australia. We lived in an apartment with flammable cladding in Melbourne that would have cost $50-100k to replace. Luckily we were just renting, so it wasn't our responsibility (we moved out shortly t

I’ve been using ChatGPT to help generate sentences for an interactive/dialog-based virtual Chinese tutor [0]. The sentences still need human vetting as it will occasionally get things wrong, but it’s a massive productivity multiplier.
