I've heard the argument used against any editor that's not vi (and once against any editor that wasn't notepad), and against the use of source control it's self - "cvs won't be on every machine, it's better to just learn to use tarballs and

I've been told that in northern New Mexico most of the mineral rights where sold off long ago, in the 20's and 50's, and sold off pretty comprehensively. Meaning there are parts of the state you just couldn't live in if you refused to live

True. But if we assume everyone put on the stand in a trial is a paid shill, lieing for one side or the other, we also have to assume that that the court system is a sham and there's no point in a trial. I'd rather assume that we can find

This is really much much uglier than reported earlier, and that was pretty ugly. CBS has rather gutted CNET here - their product reviews where the best part of the site, and that is absolutely not to be trusted any more.

This is worth reading, in spite of it's inflammatory title, as it's really about a new project: moe ( https://github.com/stevan/moe ) an "ultra-modern perl 5" written in Scala.

I use S3 directly (+ Route53) for my static sites, with EC2 micro instances for things that need a CPU. Previously I used Linode and was happy, but when I decided to cut administrative overhead, and go with just one vendor I went with amazo

The light grey zone coloration (In the last 2 maps) is hugely distracting in these images, though I don’t remember that being the case in real life. Perhaps it’s an artifact of the size.

For non-recurring tiny payments I use PayPal for Digital Goods* for one of my side projects. It works about as well as paypal in general - but it is oddly hosted on even slower servers. It’s 5.5% + $0.05, so you don’t want to use it
