Chocolatey looks nice actually. I might have had more fun on windows when I used it in the 90s if that had existed. I will keep it in mind in case I ever see a need for it, I imagine I could suggest it to some windows users.

It's unfortunate that you apparently had bad experiences with Ubuntu, but this thread is about development tools, not installing third party games from external sources. Yes, if you want to game, windows seems like a more convenient ch

To be fair, the people who build the website probably aren't the same who build the browser.

When I started to use the web there were campaigns like best viewed in any browser, and the browser wars were just starting. I didn't realize that sharing my sentiment would be perceived as complaining. I know how to disable noscript.

Well, I know I'm not your average user, but a website that only displays a spinner to noscript users doesn't exactly make me very confident that this browser will help to make a better www.

I don't really see a problem here, I think it is a strength to have a big female audience. It's a unique selling point for pinterest. Personally, I don't find social news/streams etc. very interesting anyway. For regular

It seems like almost everybody who replied is a web developer, and assumes your son wants to build websites. Let me suggest something different. Figure out which part of programming he's interested in, why he likes it. Is he good in ma

Mobile Chrome seems to try to reload the page each time you focus out and in of the browser, change tabs, or whatever. Really terrible behaviour.

If you have tools that work for you I don't see a reason to change. I use vim because it's a great editor, can run in a terminal, and is open source. I know the producer won't go out of business.

The truth is never racist, it's just a fact. I'm not saying parent's description is accurate, but distorting facts to conform to somebody's desire for political correctness is on a similar level of despicableness as raci

You always need to do the server-side work, no matter where the data is rendered or cached later. Like I said, it's a tradeoff.

You can get several things in one request if you want to. But yeah, it's a tradeoff. The main advantage seems to be cacheability, though that can get less important if you cache e.g. template fragments instead of entire pages.

Coinbase doesn't have enough volume to sell you 50k coins right now, you would hike the price towards infinity. You could buy something like 22k coins for 24M.

For a rational investor it would make sense to bid above "market" price. There are many markets, and those markets have a limited volume of coin to sell. Buying 30k coins would have a big effect on the price of any single market.

That's really up to you. If you need your laptop to function, it's probably a good idea to stay on the newly released Jessie for a few weeks or months. After a release developers usually push major upgrades into the reposistories.
