A "bitcoin client" doesn't give any "voting" power. Mining does. Mining takes a lot of power, so sure, if Apple or Microsoft wanted all of their devices to run out of power in an hour or so they could try such a thi

Wow, somebody who doesn't understand mining writes about bitcoin. No, you don't get the "majority vote" because you have more users. Complete nonsense.

When posting such ancient info an indicator like [2004]in the headline would be useful. Also, if you think this is significant why not write about it and link to your article, so that there's something to discuss?

Remember that kickstarter is not a store. When you give somebody money on kickstarter you're not buying a product, you're supporting the producer. Businesses can fail, even when funded. See also http://www.kickstarter.c

Yeah, make a decent video and add an annoying soundtrack that's louder than the speaker. Unwatchable.

The lawyer fees sound excessive, but when you play with fire you can get burned. I wonder though what the guy's lawyers were doing, or if the guy confessed, or how the evidence against him was gathered.

Yeah, no sane person would have expected BTC to become legal tender in China soon. Very nice that they acknowledge BTC and say that trading it is fine. This is really good news and the article is just trying to make up a negative story.

At $10/hr you'll only attract the worst kind of clients: those who think that your time is not valuable, that will try to scam you, that will try to get you to do stuff for free. You'll also have the problem that freelancing

The people in #python on the freenode IRC network are usually quite helpful. Try http://webchat.freenode.net/?channels=%23python&uio=OT10cnVl... if you don't have a real IRC client.

Why would anybody care about fans? They are by definition not rational, I'll quote wikipedia "[a fan] is a person who is enthusiastically devoted to something, such as a band, a sports team or entertainer". So if you write ab

I hope those 11k aren't all your savings. I have coins, am bullish long term, but buying bitcoin is speculation, and bitcoin can fall back to $0.01, even if I don't think it's likely.

This is one of the biggest problems with so many publications, they focus on a single aspect of bitcoin. I've started to think of many discussions about bitcoin as equivalent to "But email is worse than a letter, it will fail"

There are so many uneducated comments that I'll link to the bitcoin FAQ: https://en.bitcoin.it/wiki/FAQ . Really, anybody trying to argue for or against BTC should at least have read that.

Really not sure why I can't reply to dragontamer, but yes, the 10000 BTC was worth it. It's one of the reasons why one BTC is worth $1000 today. Without this transaction we probably wouldn't be talking about it.
